5 Players Solskjaer's Manchester United Should Sign in the Summer…

5 players that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United should look to sign in the summer transfer window in their quest to win Premier League and Champions League next season. It looks to be a busy window for Manchester United, with new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær looking to build a team in his image after his permanent appointment in March.

It is clear that Manchester United need to strengthen at the back, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Kalidou Koulibaly are the names that seem to be most heavily linked to Man Utd. These signings definitely make a lot sense: whilst the Senegalese centre half is probably the single best player that Solskjær could realistically bring in, the Englishman is putting up record-shattering defensive numbers this season and profiles as one of the best full-backs in Europe right now!

Manchester United are short at full back, with Antonio Valencia leaving the club in the summer and for all of Ashley Young’s passion, he’ll be 34 next season. As much as I love Diogo Dalot he’s only 20 and United lack quality cover at full back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka would be a fantastic addition. The Crystal Palace right back has won a ridiculous 4 tackles per game in the Premier League this season with a completion rate of around 94%.

But, he needs a partner if United have aspirations to win the Premier League. Now, who should that be? Umtiti, Varane, De Ligt or Koulibaly. First up, De Ligt and Varane. Real Madrid have publicly stated that Varane won’t be sold for less than his €500 million euro release clause and Matthijs de Ligt seems keen on following Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona. And if de Ligt does make the move to Barcelona, it’ll spell the end for the next centre back on our list, Samuel Umtiti. The Frenchman is one of the best centre backs in the World and he would be an excellent signing if a knee problem hadn’t surfaced last May. Since then, he has missed 31 games in 12 months for Barcelona. It’s a knee cartilage problem which is unusual in players as young as him. There are parts of loose cartilage, something that forced Carles Puyol to retire and United already have too many injury prone defenders, so a move for Umtiti would make no sense, unless he can miraculously grow new knees which leaves Kalidou Koulibaly. A top quality player. This season, in the Champions League, he has played against Mbappe, Salah and Ronaldo and not looked out of place.

Elsewhere, Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes would add some much-needed creativity to Man Utd’s midfield, especially with rumours swelling of Ander Herrera potentially moving to PSG & Real Madrid clearly eyeing up Paul Pogba with Zinedine Zidane’s return to the helm. This is also where Joao Felix and Ruben Neves would come into play, with the latter also able to dictate games in a way that no current Utd midfielder really can.

Man United are lacking attacking numbers in midfield. United have struggled to break down teams who’ve sat in a deep block this season and if Paul Pogba isn’t at his best or is marked out the game like PSG did with Marquinhos, they have little creativity coming from central midfield. Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes could alleviate this problem. The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is such a technically gifted player, he’s got a powerful strike from range but has the finesse to thread a final ball. He’s created on averaged 3.1 chances per game and he also takes 3.4 shots per game this season. In terms of shots, only Soares in the Liga NOS this season has taken more per game. Bruno Fernandes has developed a “knack” of getting into the box at exactly the right time to finish off moves. He is a “pass and move” style player perfect for Ole’s Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho has more assists with 13 than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues, which will clearly make him hot property this summer. The Englishman has exceeded all expectations this season, and there’s an argument to be made that Utd could bring in a natural right winger in order to gain some balance in attack. If you’re going to do so, who better to bring in than a teenager with more assists than Lionel Messi?’

Here are a couple of transfers that we would like to see:

Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Man Utd
Bruno Fernandes to Man Utd
Kalidou Koulibaly to Man Utd
Jadon Sancho to Man Utd
Joao Felix or Ruben Neves to Man Utd

Let me know who you want Solskjaer to sign in the summer transfer window in the comments below.

And now here's the 5 signings Woodward will actually make:

1. Bale
2. A saucepan sponsor for our socks
3. A 9th tier Icelandic league full back
4. Ashley Young 5 year contract extension
5. A deadline day panic that will end up with us paying £350m for Harry Macguire

I love this club but Woodward is making an absolute mess with his wage structuring.

I know it’s very very different from reports and what people would want but me personally I’d love to see Lozano in a united shirt I feel we need more goals from that right hand side and his ability to counterattack is immaculate as shown in the World Cup.
Just a thought😊

The team I’d love to see is:
GK:De Gea
RB: Wan bissaka
CB: Koulibaly
CB: Lindelof
LB: Shaw
CM: Neves
CM Herrera
CM: Pogba
LW: Martial

Then for the bench you got players like Lukaku, Matic, Dalot, Fred, Romero, Lingard etc

"Diogo Dalot is only 20, we need someone with more experience, like Wan-Bissaka" (who is 21)

My ideal 5 signings would be CB De Ligt, RW Sancho, CM Ndombele, RB Wan-Bissaka and CDM Allan or Declan Rice. But De Ligt looks off to Barca most likely, Sancho may not be sold this summer, Ndombele and Wan-Bissaka both have a host of clubs after them along with us, Allan Napoli are asking ridiculous money and Rice may stay at West Ham another season or two before they sell him.

Ideally Ander stays and we could move him to the 6 and make sure we bring in Ndombele although Ander is now looking likely to leave as well. So perhaps more realistic would be Ndombele, Lozano (if Sancho isn't being sold this summer), Wan-Bissaka or Mbabu and Declan Rice. Lozano is an excellent much cheaper alternative to Sancho, Sancho is my first choice but Lozano is absolutely tearing it up in Holland has nearly 20 goals quite a few assists, can play either wing and his amazing pace ; if Sancho isn't being sold Lozano is a good shout. Ndombele has a few other options in terms of clubs chasing him but we are basically linked with him every article Tanguy is mentioned in now and I believe its between us and PSG as the front runners and if we are aggressive enough I believe we can clinch that signing. To me Ndombele with his amazing ability on the ball (passing and fantastic dribbling), pace and improving defensive side could be that perfect box to box between our DM and Pogba (assuming Pogba stays). Bruno Fernandes mentioned on here is a decent cheaper alternative to Ndombele, he is amazing on the ball, crossing, passes, through balls etc and has a danger shot on him from open play or free-kicks. I worry about Fernandes a bit defensively but on the ball he is incredible in the few times i have seen him play in real time.

AWB is a dynamic quick ball winning defensive type RB, i do worry about his crossing / end product to a degree but Prem proven and performing well most often he probably makes the most sense for our RB target, especially if we sign a proper quality RW who can put in proper crosses / service, then I don't mind a more defensive RB like AWB who is the talent level we need and can share the duties with Dalot. Although if we miss out on AWB, Mbabu could be a decent alternative as well he has lightning pace, can cross, actually fairly tall for a RB and decent defensively as well (although Mbabu is a bit of a risk), also Meunier could be a fairly cheap solid stop gap option as well while Dalot and Laird develop ; so at RB we definitely have some options in terms of who we go for. And for me the CDM upgrade I would go for is Rice - quick, physical, combative, good defensively, good in the air, decent height, young and his left foot seems to be getting better and better in terms of passing / distribution. Neves would be the ideal DLP I just can't see us getting him this summer, and being a Mendes client I am not sure we can get him at all - DDG tried to leave once and still hasn't signed on now, we missed out on James, Fabinho, Bernardo Silva and Renato Sanches all while Jose (a Mendes client was at the club), ntm the DiMaria and Falcao situations didn't go well (also Mendes clients) ; we haven't had recent luck recruiting Mendes clients in recent seasons and I don't expect that to change. Which is why for me I would go for Declan. And CB I have no idea where we are going, De Ligt is the best option but we don't look to be signing him, Varane or Koulibaly would be great but i am not sure our board will pay the fees for either or if either player are that keen on coming to United. So with CB i honestly don't if we are going the cheap route like Toby or Manolas or if we will spend the bigger fee like a De Ligt, Koulibaly or Varane.

As of now it remains to be seen if we go for the cheap or expensive options, which deals we can actually get done and how aggressive Woodward will be this summer. So its quite hard to predict exactly who we are going with for our summer targets.
