According to the Philippine Department of Defense, the first two of the six Turkish-made T129 "ATAK" attack helicopters will be delivered sometime December 2021 or early January 2022. The six T129 attack helicopters were acquired for a total contract price of approximately $270 million from the Turkish Aerospace Industries through a government-to-government mode of procurement.

I love this Helicopter. Not only by their design. The T129 is one of the best examples of a great and succesfull planed and finished defens industry project.
TAI did a great deal with Mangusta.
Sadly the italians didn't know what to do with their own A129 helicopters. It was an almost unarmed Reconnaissance helicopter.
Turkey used only the ground base of this helicopter. But the whole avionic is developed and produced by their sister company Aselsan. The weapons by Roketsan.
They boosted the performance for high altitute operation in high mountainous regions. To operate in frozen cold but also hot dry conditions.
It's actually not a typical heavy combat helicopter. It's still Reconnaissance helicopter...but on heavy steroids and with amazing armory.
Perfect for counter terrorism in mountainous regions but also against tanks and symatric warfare.
And the best: it is combat proven.
And...oh boy...did it prove his performance.
All for much less costs in purchase, training and maintenance.
Philippines payed only 270M for six T129.
Indias most resent purchade of six AH Apache costs 655M!!!
Just to compare the dimensions of such deals.

But yes, the only weakness is the Honeywell engine which prevents Turkey to export the T129 to some other countries as like Pakistan due to the blockade by the U.S.
But I can't wait for the upcoming Atak 2 helicopter T929 which will be a 12 tons heavy combat helicopter. TAI is currently developing an own engines and transmission together with the sister company TEI and an Ukraine based engine company, which will open the doors to a huge market.

Turkey should begin developing engines for its weapons platforms.

Apache & Viper is excessive for the Philippines setting, so T129 is better in that particular scenario.

Hopefully Philippines will complete their planned overall buy of 24 of them, plus a possible navalized stealthy version for their navy's OPVs

December 2021 or early January. That means they should have them now. Do they?

It’s good that the Philippines upgrade their abilities, but I’m not sure it’s an that effective platform for countering the PLAN

These are good helicopters but to call it Turkish is laughable. The engines are build by Honeywell, the design was by Augusta Westland and the parts are mainly build by European companies. They ship semi finished products to Turkey where they are assembled and if necessary painted. So the paint and assembly are Turkish the rest isn't. For the nationalistic idiots look at Pakistan they aren't getting theirs due to the original manufacturer blocking the sale.

The reason for the choice is parts commonality between the A-109, the cargo version of the A-129.

It's cheap compare to AH-1Z VIPER. 6 UNITS OF T129 CAN BUY OF THE BUDGET FOR AFP BUT IF THEY CHOOSE AH-1Z VIPER ONLY 3 UNITS CAN BE AFFORD OF THE MONEY.

I like gunship hawk and HIND more cuz the american hawk can carry over 16 men and also a gunship that's multi purpose same as the Russian Hind but the hind carrys less and haves more weaponry for bunker busting, anti tank, anti air?, And anti infantry but at least we have ATAKs now
