What a great review, I drove this exact spec. Yesterday and blown away by the torque and how smooth it is. Very nice truck.

Finally someone who acknowledges the economic realities of cost. Every other review talks about buying one like they have unlimited funds. That's simply not the reality of the vast majority of consumers. I'll stick to driving my 80. Drive perfectly fine even with 29 years.

This review does what most other car reviews don't do; it tells you right from the get-go what market segment it is addressing: the off-road buyer who doesn't make $200K a year but wants to buy a new, quality vehicle. I like how she describes the base model and contrasts it to the higher level trims and concludes for the things that matter, the base model is the same as the higher level trims; it's the creature comforts that are different. The base has the same powertrain, transmission, gearing and clearance - the things that matter to most buyers. I like how she highlights the 'creature comforts' that the base doesn't have but notes who it's not really a dealbreaker for her. Let's face it, wireless charging is nice but everyone has an extra cord to use in their new vehicle if necessary. I also like how she shows its capability off-road, even with stock tires, and how the lack of MTS is not a big deal as long as you have some basic understanding of off-roading.

I'm with Lyn, I'll wait a few years and snag one used one of these! I love my Lexus NX but I like a more rugged looking vehicle and this just fits the bill!

Looked at exact same truck in the dealership the other day. Loved the truck but it was a bit too stripped for me and the cost seemed high for what you are getting. Lynn has the right idea here to get it off lease.

I really do like this vehicle … I just don’t see 55k worth of vehicle

Thank you so much! We are in the market right now, and I want my wife to drive one of these. I am heavily considering the GX 550, I think it is a great boat towing rig for what I do. But this
would be an awesome off road rig after she has put the first ten years on it. We keep our vehicles for a very long time, and I have come to terms with the cost. But this Landcruiser is about 20K cheaper than a GX 550.... not nearly the same for towing, but I have other vehicles for that...need my wife's car for the kids now.... Your video is SO REFRESHING, THANK YOU!!!!

Great video as always, Lyn. You are my rock when it comes to automotive journalism.

That is a fantastic vehicle. Really hits the sweet spot to me. I get waiting if that’s best for you. But I would just love it either way.

Heck yeah. The round headlights are a must. Good video.

It does display that information in Carplay. It seems like you need to tap the turn box in the upper left of Apple Maps on the screen in order to get the street name to appear.

Exact model I want. Test drove. Loaded with safety and tech.

@KBB did you check the owner’s manual about the warnings for the battery pack in the back? Making sure it does not get wet as it may short out? Making sure the air vents are not blocked? As well as the payload the battery cover can handle?

I admire your sense of fiscal responsibility. Good on you!

This car doesn't look base model to me! The way the car avoids shiny plastics, fake chrome, super sized screens, painful leather or fake ones is simply amazing. Yeah the sticker hurts a bit though.

I dont buy new cars 🤨
Being 2nd owner is the sweet
spot. I have a BMW and Ifiniti both
out of my range new..but 3 or 4
years older I got what I wanted for
thousands less. Its not how everyone
does it but that has worked for me...
I can wait 3 years to save 30K🤔

She works at KBB, she has the data to know when to buy. Lucky

If you told me this was the new 4Runner, I’d believe you. Not sure why they are making two vehicles that are essentially the same.

I really wish they had the 1958 with a larger screen, wireless charger and minor creature comforts like a power liftgate that didn’t make you go up almost $8k to the next trim.

Always love your reviews (and your humor!). After watching this, I would recommend the 2025 Toyota 4-Runner for you. Same platform, same size, same I-force Max powertrain and lots of trims to choose from at a lower cost than the Land Cruiser.
