Not bad. I struggle to hit 20mpg in my 2017 Taco TRD-OF 4WD.

The version we get in South Africa is has a 2.8L diesel 4cyl non-hybrid which has an economy of 7.9l/100km which is about 29.8mpg

If it cost $40, 000 to buy it's good. But they cost $80, 000. So they are extremely bad.

Eh for a brand new hybrid? I’d say it’s bad. I drive a jeep gladiator through the mountains all the time. Full tanks of gas, with off road g at the end and a fill up to get home. 200-400 miles of Rockies/sierras, what have you. No one would claim the jeep to be “good on gas” and yea, it’s running 13 mpg up, but 60 + down… averaging out to like 25. Just for the pass. 20is for the whole trip. About 22-23 on flat highways. Your elevation may vary.

My 2021 Ram 1500 crew cab non hybrid with hemi non 4x4 drove all the way to Lake Tahoe, with various stops both ways and around the whole lake and back home and got 26.0 round trip. About 1, 200 miles total.

So many people don't realize that the iForceMax hybrid powertrain in Toyota's is for power, not mpg. Adding the hybrid also make them easier to meet emissions. Those old 1UR-FE Toyota V8 are producing 50%+ more greenhouse gas per mile than this. This is what traditional automakers have to struggle with these days, they can keep selling v8s and buy billions dollars of carbon credits from Tesla each year or size down and not exceed emission limits.

Thats not great for a hybrid... I would get better in my v6 Highlander thats 10 years old.

I expected more mpg from the hybrid wizards at Toyota

I get 21mpg in my 2006 4Runner SR5. Considering the probable high price that's terrible.

A true 76-series diesel would be a much better off-road choice. Stupid bureaucrats.

I get 22 mpg in my Santa Fe sport turbo while on the highway so pretty damn good. It’s no Corolla but it’s good for a 5000 pound brick. 😂

It's not that bad. But, I bet that the roof rack is costing you a little MPG, as well..

I think it's good for a truck of that size, I got 41 mpg going though the great divide from CO to UT 700 mile trip but I have a 2012 Jetta diesel with a manual.

In Scotland it's a 2.8 turbo diesel which should provide a much greater long distance machine

Not bad mpg… it’ll only take you 20yrs to make up for the fact that you paid $80k for a $50k truck tho

Firstly, this is the new Prado. It is the baby in the Landcruiser range, google 300 series.
Secondly they also come in Diesel as does the 300 series.

I get 20-22 on the freeway driving 90 mins to and from work round trip in my 23 4runner. I think I'll stick with what I got.

It's crap my colorado diesel gets 35mpg in upstate ny 45 mpg on flat ground what's the point of decreased emissions if you are burning more fuel
