Project CARS has FOV sliders.
Call of Duty doesn't.
Keep that in mind.

I always played at 120 degrees in Half-Life (Source). Since the FOV in Half-Life (Source) is calculated for 4:3 aspect ratio monitors, and I use a 16:9 monitor, I would be able to see a lot more than the claustrophobia-inducing default FOV would otherwise allow. Plus, it gave me the illusion of running around really fast, almost as if it were Gordon the Hedgehog.

I chose 120 because that was what I believed (at the time) to be the most natural based on what the Human Eye could actually see, and from my personal experience, it was the most natural looking to me on my display setup.

But now imagine what kind of FOV that I could get by setting it to 120 degrees on a 3x Ultrawide (21:9) surround setup. Would certainly give me an advantage in TF2 or HL2: CTF.

Taren, the 'distortion around the edge of the screen' is also an effect of your distance from the screen.. My way to describe it is picture the screen as a window, the closer you are, the higher the FOV (Or higher it should be in games.)..

I did play a quake 2 mod back in the day called "Gloom" (natural selection is based off it) and the aliens lowest class had like a 180 or 200 fov it was pretty awesome.. They wanted the distortion effect though.

And personally I prefer 100-120 FOV but some games it can be hard. ArmA series for example, you're usually engaging people 100-500 meters away, and they are about 2 pixels at 500 meters with 120 lol, helps with flying though.
