Having a play with a Corvette Z06 at Circuit de Catalunya in my Jaguar F-Type R. Unfortunately we only got to chase each other for a couple of laps as my brakes overheated!

Great driving! My buddy tracks his SVR and found similar issues. Brakes overheat, even melted the sensor. He ended up swtiching to new calipers/rotors because the CCB was cooked

Coming across this video again and I am surprised that the Vette didn't go into Limp Mode and it's brakes didn't over heat itself!!

That's a base model C7 Corvette, not even a Grand Sport or Z06. You can immediately tell by the side vent on the car when you went around it. Still, with that aero on it, it can be a capable track car even with only 460bhp and Z51 suspension.

Without exception a fixed comparison with a race car driver in the Jag and an TOTAL beginner in the Corvette. The Z06 should have walked on the F-Type, but European can't show a fair comparison. That wold break a 100 year tradition.

Amazing video, it's quite impressive how well that 3800lbs jag handles the track

Had this been a Mercedes or similar fast but heavy car I don't think it would have faired so well.

So for our European friends - the grand sport is the “purist” version of the C7. It has the NA base stingray engine making 460hp, so down on power to the Jag. But it’s nearly 500lbs lighter than the Jag, has (for a front-mid engine car) perfect 50/50 front to back weight distribution, and equipped with M Cup 2s will pull nearly 1.2 lateral gs. The GS also comes with Brembo carbon ceramics that haul it down from 60mph in a scant 90 feet and can be equipped in a manual (please god save the manuals!!!!) The jag is going to pull it all day on the long straights on this track but the GS will disappear like a ghost in the corners. Both amazing and wonderful cars (and the jag interior is just fabulous - love the jag).

See those red tail lights? Not a Z06, nothing taken from your Jag.. Beautiful car

That's a C7 Stingray with DarwinPro wide fenders.

Not a Z06 sadly. The Z06 comes with clear tail lights from factory. This was probably a stingray or a grand sport

I was going to say that if it’s under steering then learn to drive but your actually a brilliant driver, that can tame a tail happy F type R.. quick fire alarms going of! You best meet at the assembly point.

How do you did you find the F-Type round the corners? Did it feel somewhat agile/nimble or heavy? On paper it's a pretty heavy car for a 2 seater. I have driven the older V6 version on track and that actually felt pretty nice round corners.

that looks like a base C7 stingray and not the Z06 🤔. if so there's close to 200 hp difference

Great video 🔥 May I ask what POV camera you use and how you connected it to your racing helmet? I'm looking for a similar setup to record a few track days, thanks 👍

After seeing your video I really want to track my car with road tires and steel brakes ao I can explore the limits of my road setup in a safe environment 🙂
Is there any merit to my thinking?

Also do you think it will last more than 2 hot laps at a time? 🤔

I have a 2016 F-Type R AWD
I am thinking Donington or Silverstone...

I love your car but the brakes are already fading?
