The cut to Pike's quarters is hilarious, the guy has like 2000 square feet.

This is what was great about Enterprise the ship was smaller and it made it feel more like a submarine or a real working vessel.

James Doohan was such a great actor really made Scotty come to life. RIP

Enterprise did a fairly good job at showing the claustrophobic nature of a starship, aside from a few rooms, I seem to remember it being like TOS

Fascinating, they managed to make the bridge dark yet also blindingly bright with all of the lights shining directly into your eyes.

To be fair, in the footage from DS9, Trials and Tribble-ations, they had the Enterprise corridor way more full of crew than normal. TOS couldn't afford that many extras, lol. Fun vid! 🖖🏻

Pike's quarters looks like a supervillain mansion.

I’d be upset about the inconsistencies, but it actually feels like Star Trek again, so they get a pass and more. Great show.

I love how the captain basically gets a house while his crew get bunk coffins to sleep in. It's like they're recreating an 18th century Royal Navy ship

TOS was created 20 years after WWII and the people that created it had some kind of military experience. It is evident in the design of the ships and in how the crew behaves. Roddenberry and James Doohan had both served in WWII. SNW shows less military protocol and more cruise ship affectation. Example; a fireplace on a space ship. That is the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Oh Scott, I feel you man. Looking at the Discovery and the Pike’s Enterprise, my god these things are huge. Why? Looks like you could fit three of your old Enterprises inside Pike’s Enterprise. Definitely not canon.

I've taken the Franz Joseph prints of TOS Enterprise (produced in the early 70s), compared them to the several subsequent attempts to produce deck-by-deck plans, and made adjustments for what we "know" must have been there (i.e. a vertical warp core, etc.) for what we're can be pretty sure wasn't there (full bowling alley, theater, etc.) and tried to produce reasonable deck plans. With the primary hull's undercut, trust me - berthing 430 crew members would be impossible without a fair number of quad bunk rooms, let alone doubles for the junior officers.

These ships are the 23rd century's equivalent of our destroyers, battleships and cruisers. Space is at a premium, no square foot is wasted. Even TOS exaggerates how tall the decks could have been. The emphasis was functionality - crew comforts would have been a consideration, perhaps moreso than today, but still the primary focus was packing as much capability on board as possible.

If only they would admit that it is a reboot, instead of insisting that it is the "prime universe".

Anyone who has studied the original shows blueprints knows that the enterprise was actually quite large and the captains quarters were bigger then shown on screen. In fact, that’s one of my pet peeves. They keep making the enterprise bigger and bigger when it was quite large enough to start with for a crew of 480. It even had a full hydroponics level and a bowling alley

Amazing work. No bloody A, B, C, D, or Nutrek!

As Scotty would say... NAE! (Nothing After Enterprise).

Does anyone remember the time that a bunch of colonists tried to start a fire in one of the cargo bays and the ship's fire suppression systems turned on automatically, and how it made sense that you didn't want a giant open flame in the middle of a highly pressurized and oxygenated ship? Cause this set designer never watched that episode.

Just awful. Less awful than Discovery and Picard, but still firmly awful.

The corridors and quarters are getting bigger and bigger with every series. Wait 2 more years and standard guest quarters will have the size of the death star.
