The same thing happened when Balochistan leaders wanted Balochistan to become a part of India but we declined and Pakistan invaded Balochistan. Today Balochistan has proven massive natural gas reserves and rare earth minerals. Always remember weak leaders bring bad times, Bad times create great leaders, great leaders create good time, good times create weak men and the cycle continues.

Similarly India twice did the mistake of not taking back or even asking for PoK even though our forces had nearly reached Islamabad in 1971 and had a major upper hand over Pak in 1999 We could've easily got PoK back if we had used diplomacy and military might in both these situations

America and Russia faced the same European colonisers in 18th and 19th centuries. After the Crimean war of 1854, Russia was weaker and Alaska was vulnerable.
Russia did not want Britain to annex Alaska from British Canada. So as a safe bet, it handed over Alaska to a neutral and emerging power called the United States for a paltry sum of USD 7.2 million.
