Good video, but one funny thing about Youtube reviews is it seems like nobody understands what aperture blades are used for. It has nothing to do with the bokeh wide open. 100% of its function is reducing how octagon shaped the bokeh is on light orbs when stopped down. That's it. The blades are literally not visible in any form when wide open. 3 or 23 blades would have no difference at F2.8.

I can't speak to this lens, but I really am enjoying the 10-18mm f2.8 Sigma for Canon RF APS-C bodies. What an improvement over the Canon offering!

I got the 10 18 version and I absolutely love it. It's much sharper than the rf 16 2.8 prime or 10 18 canon version.

The R7 has IBIS, so it doesn't matter if the lens doesn't have IS. I have the 50mm 1.4 Art, 35mm 1.4 Art, 70mm 2.8 macro Art, 14-24mm 2.8 Art, 18-35mm 1.8 Art and 50-100mm 1.8 Art lenses and the IBIS works perfectly with all of them.

Great review. Thanks! Since you asked… Alongside this fabulous lens, and the excellent sigma RF-S 10-18 f2.8, I’d love to see Sigma launch an RF-S 50-200 f2.8 of similar style and quality to complete the APS-C pro lens trilogy. That would make for a near perfect travel kit!! One can dream.

Having to turn off ibis on a tripod isn’t really a thing anymore on most camera systems

I would assume that the kit lenses would be a closer fit to compare with, than the 24-70 one, how does the Sigma compare to the kit lenses? Great review!

What device did you use to record this video?

I have r50, and I think this thing with gimbal will do the work for videography. What is your opinion?

Without manual focus, can you shoot the stars or the Milky Way? thanks!

If the camera has In Body Stabilization that should be enough. You can work with a lens without stabilization well enough. A lens without stabilization becomes a problem if the camera doesn’t have in body stabilization.

Bought this lens to try out on an R50 and returned it. Wasn’t a fan of how it rendered. I’ll continue to use my 17-55 when I need a zoom in this general range. Bring on the Sigma RF primes.

Hi! Thanks for this video! I have a question: i´ve seen a youtube review that talks about the poor quality of this lens in photography. Is it true? Or is it sharp enough? Thanks!

Instead buy sigma 18-35 ef f1.8 lens and use it with ring mount

Thinking of using this lense for some sports videography and some detail shots of the athletes before the matches. Currently using the R10 with the kit 24-105 f3.5 to f6.3 zoom lense. Do you think the Sigma will deliver ?

but isn't the sigma 18-50mm a crop lens made for crop sensor cameras..??? so the effective focal range should be still close to or exactly 18-50mm?? I'm confused now
