INDIE GAME: THE MOVIE looks at the underdogs of the video game industry, indie game developers, who sacrifice money, health and sanity to realize their lifelong dreams of sharing their creative visions with the world. This movie was what convinced me that the game I had been working on for a year was worth something, even though my parents and friends didn't think so. Finishing the game was a lonely and traumatic experience but seven years later it has paid for my house and car, given me lasting income, and led directly to meeting all of my best friends and even my wife. Parents and old life be damned. To all the other indie devs out there: if it feels real, it's because it is! You can do it.

Can we appreciate how well made this trailer is. How the music resonates while introducing the three characters, and then starts raising as they talk about their passions and weaknesses, pauses when they struggle to an obstacle, and finally volume goes to the roof the moment they give all they got to finish their games at release day. As an spectator it feels like climbing a mountain (maybe a methaphore of them achieving their dreams, sort of like the classic hero journey). It's very moving.

It's been 9 years and I keep returning to this video, and it still keep giving me the chills.

I love, love, loved this documentary. I definitely connect with these guys, sacrificing for the sake of a dream, their passions, just to make something that is a total expression of who they are. It's like they are merely the muse and their creations are demanding to be breath into existence. Truly beautiful.

There have been nights where I was like what we see in this trailer: hunched over at my desk, with my head in my hands after seeing some bug I have no clue about how to fix, tired, wondering if MMU will ever be completed. And I was "only working on a Megaman fan-game". Not even making money off of it.
It takes so long that, even if you are doing what you love, because you are so emotionally invested in it, there are times you just wish it'd be all over so you can tell people that you accomplished something.
So I totally understand the feeling they're talking about.

As a kid I dream of making games.. I was super stoke when we got a game dev class in my high school but was completely let down when I learned we had a teacher who didnt even like video games. I made a game with Game maker, redrawing sprites from RPG Maker, made my own fooley and sound effects but then limited by programming. Stil did the best I could and it was super fun. I'm finally learning programming and I can see this hobby and passion already being very time consuming lol but totally worth it.

I'm not going to lie, I've watched this documentary over 100 times, its my documentary i fall asleep too on netflix. I love it. I just found the trailer. And holy crap this is by far one of the best trailers i've ever seen for a movie/documentary.
