Idk about this one. Pier and beam has been used with no issues for precisely above water builds. Insects and pest? Sure but that stuff can always be controlled and the underbody can always be reinforced against those things. Slabs can crack over time and is much more expensive to build.

I’d say yes to generally avoid them on old builds but if building a new house a pier system is great
