Great info! I was getting into slab foundations because Frank Lloyd Wright preferred them. But man it seems so much better to go with pier just to have that ability to see and fix any issues with plumbing.

Question ... I'm late I know, but I'm a new builder (home owner) .. we are building a tiny house on a property that has double flood zone (yeah who knew that was a thing) .. we are thinking pier beams would work for us ...the land is flat. Soil dirt .. 3 ft off ground (flood elevation level)... for 16x52 house we were going to use 4 (every 4 ft) and 8 across (every 6.5 ft) ...bad idea .. ? Good idea ??

So termites and bugs can’t fit through the cracks or gaps of a slab foundation? Not only that but the exterior walls are literally setting one to three above the ground. Pier foundations are literally on average 18” above grade and you have less surface area to spray for termites and pests. Slab foundations have their place but if you ever have issues (foundation, plumbing) then it will be extremely costly and a pain to repair.
