ASUS ROG STRIX XG27WQ Curved 1440p goodness with a few gotchas - ASUS ROG Tax included?

ASUS ROG STRIX XG27WQ

A very nice monitor which you CAN actually mount on a VESA arm (I was wrong and have since done a video addressing it)
It has great brightness and viewing angles and buttery smooth tear free gaming experience. If it is worth the money well that is down to the individual and if you like paying the ASUS tax?

I’ve got the same monitor as you man. This is the best purchase I ever brought.

You certainly get what you pay for and for just over £400 you cant deny that you get some decent bells and whistles that go with this monitor. If you are in the market for such a monitor then I think this is a VERY decent panel and judging by your review its certainly worth every penny. Thanks for taking the time to make the video Mike and Kath :-)

Strange! I have the Asus frame counter on my screen and it works fine 95% of the time. But I have had this issue before. Maybe the game was set to borderless rather than fullscreen?

Hi Mike. Would like to check with you again pls. Sorry for asking many questions. Lol. 😆. So, I have recently used this monitor for the first time a few days ago. I played the PC game Farcry 5 and Destiny 2. Both games are FPS games and run smoothly above 144 FPS at least on max settings and 1440p. This is my first ever VA panel monitor. So, when I moved the mouse sideways quickly and repeatedly, I saw screen ghosting. Then I adjusted the monitor’s Over Drive settings to Level 3 and also ELMB to Standard or Turbo. The ghosting effects were reduced but not eliminated. How do you remove the ghosting completely please? Thank you, Mike. 🙏🏻🙂

Got my gaming son the BenQ EL2870UE which is £200 cheaper but it’s only 60hz refresh, is the XG27 worth the extra money? Don’t know! Thanks for showing us what’s out in the market currently. Great video, Thanks Mike and Kath.

Hi Mike. May I check with you please. The XG27WQ comes with a USB cable which can be connected to 1 of the 2 USB ports of the monitor itself. The question is, what is the purpose of this USB cable connection? Thank you. 🙏🏻🙂

Hi Mike. Thanks for the video. I have just done the unboxing and installation of this monitor myself today. Yeah, I have to agree with you that ASUS could have done the I/O back cover better at this price range. Now my DP and USB 3.0 cable need to bend at 90 degrees just to make an exit from the back cover panel. Question please. In your opinion, do you think this amount of cable bending would potentially damage the wirings inside the DP and USB 3.0 cables? Kinda worried there. Thanks, Mike. 😊🙏🏻

Great video as always, Mike. The monitor for me I'm sure is good but its a bit pricey considering the amount of flaws it has. I have one question though, what this the USB hub port for?

How is the Black Level Smearing on this monitor, is it bad for a VA panel?

Seems like a nice monitor. My 1440p ultra wide was about the same price. $450 with tax, but my monitor is only 100Hz refresh rate. But that's fine for me. I can't see a difference in monitors past 75Hz. How long have you been playing Wreckfest? It's my favorite game, I'm playing it 4 to 5 hours per day, and getting 195 FPS with everything set to highest quality.

Hi. I am going to play PC games on ultra settings at 100 FPS max at 1440p. Not gonna push beyond that value because I hardly can see the additional benefits in gameplay experience in my opinion. GPU will be the 6900XT. Will there be a screen ghosting, screen tearing or bleeding with the GPU mentioned earlier?

Hello, I will buy this monitor, but I have not used the va panel and curved model before, as someone who hates ips glow, do you think I can buy it?

I’ve had this monitor for about 1week and it’s displaying dark colours way to dark, is there anyway to fix it some people have said it’s something to do with the gamma curve

Hi Mike, what would be the electriq equivalent to this monitor please. Like you said it’s a little on the steep side so would love to be able to save a few quid without compromising on performance. Thanks
