Turn a Photo Into a Stunning Painting Using Luminar NEO - Full Photo Edit

We'll address several key features to create a more artistic and painterly look, such as reducing details while keeping our overall aesthetic in tact. We'll Add layers to the photo including clouds and painterly textures. Once we're happy with our overall look we control our colours with a couple of colour grading techniques.

Great video, I'll play with this a bit. Can you do a video on turning a portrait photo in to a painting or water color? You make the learning fun and interesting, I think this is because you really enjoy what you are doing and it really comes through in your videos. Worth watching for the texture edit at the end alone. I fnid the blend modes are rarely discussed in detail like you do, and so it's really, really useful knowing what even just a few of these are good for. Plus, as always, you take a lot of the angst out of editing or comping because you emphasise you are just making the photo how you want it to be. So it's not like "You need an S-curve here" but "look, what we want is to get those shadows less black so we can drop colour in". Layman's terms editing, I love it.

Excellent creative use of layers and masks. I really like the textured layering as I see great uses for it. I live in NM and we have quite a few areas similar to the image you edited here and doing a painterly effect would greatly enhance the aged nostalgic feel in some of the old buildings. Great edit.

You analyzing all aspects of the image is knife sharp - I am learning from that!

Especially the point of lifting true black to be able to put color into the shadows.

Obvious when you bring it up, but until now, not something I thought about before

This was really a great video tutorial on using Neo for such a task! You'd get a much better result in Ps, but it would take a LOT longer to achieve! Thanks for sharing this!
