Looking for a reliable smart lock that’s very easy to install, check out the August WiFi Smart Lock. They are still the easiest DIY Smart Lock in 2023. This is the latest 4th generation lock August introduced a while ago in 2020. I’ll compare it to the 3rd generation Smart Lock Pro we’ve been using at our front door for years.

Battery life is the worst. I’m trying to connect the wifi lock to the wifi bridge so it doesn’t use up the batteries. But I find you can’t access lock settings when away only the status. Is that what you’ve run into?

I just bought the August 4th Gen WiFi smart lock but unfortunately it is not working. August app states that markets outside USA & Canada are NOT SUPPORTED and there is nothing they can do about it!

So you don't need any hub for the Wi-Fi on the Gen 4. Also does this lock work with SmartThings.
