My son was chronically ill and I would sing lullabies to him every night for hours. When he died I sang this to him as his last song. Sad fact about Ofra Haza (RIP), the original singer. She was considered by Hans Zimmer to do the vocals for the 2000 film Gladiator, but passed away before she could be asked to do it. Lisa Gerrard’s vocals on the soundtrack are awesome, but imagine what it would have been like if the woman who gave us that awesome delivery of Deliver us had sung the vocals. RIP Ofra. Your voice was something special.
