The villain turned from Harry Potter to Voldemort really quickly

There was much more to Sivana's motivations than a simple grudge. The opening scene makes it clear that he had been emotionally abused and made to feel worthless by his family, and that tied into his experience with the wizard. He was so desperate to be special for once that he gave himself to temptation in a moment of weakness and his frustration and bitterness over his feelings of worthlessness were reinforced by his abrupt rejection.

3:55 "And we're expected to basically believe that from childhood to now he has had the exact same grudge from the exact same thing." That is EXACTLY the description of Batman. Traumatized as a child, dedicated to fighting crime after years of training. Completely within the precedent set by the DC universe.

I'm glad DC wants every film to have its own tone and really make these very Old characters feel fresh and I hope they continue this moving forward. I just hope we get another Superman movie.

There are folks that dont ever move on and dwell and hold grudges until death. That's why Mark Strong's grudge works so I disagree with that part.

It's nice to see Shazam get some love, he's a very cool character and somewhat underutilized.

Yeah I believe someone could hold a grudge their whole lives, so I don't see that as an issue for the villain.

"SHAZAM!" Was a blast! Kid actors and casting were great, heart of the movie theme of "finding your family" was good, jokes and references/montages were a hoot, and the 3rd act finale is one of the BEST of recent comicbook fare, simple with tons of fun and surprises (any "The O.C." fans out there haha) that totally worked for the movies themes. DC is finding their grove for the feature films for sure..."RECOMMENDED!"
