I feel those would kill the bottom of my feet backpacking in any semi-tough trails. I buy the quest specifically for the tough\stiff bottoms. I find it interesting you didn’t have that problem.

I live in Colorado. I do a lot of hiking in the mountains...usually to mountain lakes to fly-fish. I have been watching your vids for a long time. I really enjoy your reviews and views of the places you hike. I don't know if you can do it but it would be nice if you would mention the trails you are hiking on. I am always looking for a new trail. Although I have hiked and camped in Colorado since the 1970's it would take 2 lifetimes to hike all the trails.

Chevron is just the name of that triangle/ arrow shape. 2:45 It has nothing to do with the energy company (although you’ll see that shape in their logo). US military rank insignia, particularly amongst the enlisted, uses a lot of chevrons so anyone who’s served in the military will be very family with that term!

This video sold me on Salomon over Merrell. I am going with the X Ultra Pioneer mid. Basically an in between from X Forces and Speed. Only around $100 too 🙌

I've had 2 Salomons. Both had toes that let moisture through, though they were supposed be waterproof. They were indestructible though, with sturdy soles that never delaminated even after several years. And they were comfortable enough. Danners were sturdier but mch heavier. Lowas were more comfortable but the soles delaminated after 2 years. Columbia lugs didn't last 6 months, Northface were slippery with little traction.

I've been using the Salomons Outrise for around the city and light hikes. I recently bought them. Great light boots. Good video Aaron!

Great, informative video Sir! I have several pair of other models of the Salomon Forces and am looking to add a pair of the Speed Assault 2s. I have to quick questions: 1. Do you recommend GTX or non-GTX? 2. Colors, I don't really want black, but I do want a color that allows me to wear with jeans or casual pants, which color do you recommend, Wolf Gray or Earth Brown? Thanks!

Vibro bare feet are pretty awesome if you already use bare foot shoes and are used to them on the trail.

Look like nice walkers.
Do you like the Casio 1500?
It is my favorite watch

I recently rediscovered the joy of successfully breaking in full grain leather boots with a full tang sole. I also still do Vibram Fivefingers like it’s 2011. I guess I’m odd.

Aaron or anyone help! Can't decide between Salomon or Merrell. Novas or X Forces? Speed Assault or Moab Speed?

At one time I was a huge fan of Salomon shoes and boots. However, after my 2nd pair of 4D GTX boots I no longer support them. Simply because they didn't warranty the sole for them when it was an obvious manufacturer's defect. The internal sole structure/chassis developed a defect where it felt like I was walking on a large marble, after only 2 weeks of owning them, and they wouldn't do anything about it. I even went to the extent of getting a 2nd Opinion from a well known Cobbler who resoles Salomon and Asolo, and he said it was a Manufacturing defect. It didn't matter. Salomon didn't make it right with me, so I'll never spend another dime on their boots. I switched from Asolo to Salomon, due to pricing, and then BACK to Asolo after Salomon did me dirty.

You should try some Altberg tabbing boots or Altberg sneeker boots.

How is the ankle support in these? I don't hike too often, and the last time I did I was in some low top oboz. After a 3 hr hike my ankles were pretty sore from all the side to side flexing. So I know mid tops are better for me, but I like the idea of a lightweight flexible shoe.

Do you find these too narrow? Kind of annoying this doesnt come in wide

I guess I have ape feet. My Solomons I bought in 2019 in wide 4E were still too snug. Every altra lonepeak generation minus #7 have been absolutely the best toebox..zero competition. They sadly do not last long at all.

I'm a big fan of Salomon footwear.

Any recommendations for Salomon’s that have ankle support? I’ll always prefer those, my area has a lot of rough terrain that’s even difficult to get around with good boots, so I would want something light and flexible like those but not heavy duty like my work boots
