"If the cheapest smart lock on Amazon has (security pins), then none of the other locks have an excuse". There it is in a nutshell.

Master’s excuse is the $0.00002 they save on each lock. I’ve worked for companies like that before. Management’s mantra was always “We’re not here to make (name a product), we’re here to make money.”

I'm impressed that there are security pins and LPL actually had to *pick* the cheap smartlock. A lot of previous cheap smartlocks seemed to be easy to disassemble or could be defeated by a magnet.

"It's pretty similar [in build quality] to locks that cost double the money" - The Lock Picking Lawyer. Big WIN for Teecho!

He didn't wave rake it so it's pretty good in my book.

After seeing this channel for years, I gave up and put a brick as my door security. Seems to be working well thus far, no intrusions in more than a month.

As soon as the Lishi tool comes out I think it's a half decent lock. Given the number that open with a wave rake, it's a refreshing change to see a more involved pick.

You lay in your bed, confident your Teeho digital lock is protecting your house. Outside you hear "1 is binding.... nothing on 2, three is set, we've dropped into a false set on 4...", you break out into a panic sweat, afraid for your life.

I swear LPL has the wildest selection of tools for lockpicking, half the reason I watch these are for the crazy tools he uses for various locks.

$32 smartlock sold at Amazon: has security pins
$329 smartlock sold at the Apple Store: no security pins
🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I was surprised to find out that you used Lishi tool for this one but it actually included security pins! Of course, if the lock core is zinc, brute forcing the lock open with a flat headed screwdriver is a very potential real world attack.

My neighbor at the next suite at work installed 3 of these at the music school. I love this channel. It's always fascinating and informative.

This strikes me as a lock that knows what it is, in the sense that the quality is sort of restricted by the cost requirements, but it seems to still be doing a pretty solid job of landing near the top of that range of possibilities.

Oh my gosh Mr. LPL, your skill with locks is astounding! Many thanks for all your time and effort putting up videos that are educational and amazing.

You gets what you pay for. I applaud you pointing out the expensive locks that are little better than this. They really need to be outed.
For a given value of "value-for-money" locks like this are more to keep the wind, animals and the less determined children out.
That's all they're good for.

A cheap lock being picked is no surprise, but the fact that it takes more effort and skill than major brands with higher prices is embarrassing to say the least. Is there any cost saving measure on this one, or is it just pure greed from other brands?

Although picking with a Lishy seems to be straightforward in this case, I would appreciate if LPL would check for susceptibility to electro-magnetic triggers as well (EMP, strong magnetic fields, protection flaws against tampering with the cirquits directly)

“And we got this opened.” If LPL were to print that on a shirt it’d be a great merch opportunity.

Cheapest lock still better than 90% of masterlock's lineup

wow, I was really surprised to not see you pick up a rake for the cheapest smart lock on amazon, and I see there was a good reason for it!
