I know the reason why they didn’t get along was because of Marie’s psychotic infatuation with Ray, but another reason was because they were too much alike. They’re both stubborn, they both have a ‘my way or the highway’ mentality, and they’re both control freaks.

The baking episode was designed to prove one thing: Marie's snide put downs and condescion were entirely designed to upset Debra. When Debra didn't get mad and give Marie her superior satisfaction, she couldn't take it.

Something that never makes sense is Ray has dark hair Debbie has red, so how from a believable perspective does their children have blonde hair?

Debra should have told off Marie a LONG time ago and lay down the law with respecting her following her house rules etc
Ray treats her Debra like garbage just like Debra treats him should have been divorced why married Ray at all he was constantly showing signs he wasn't ready for it
Robert should have been married no kids Ray should of been single living with his mommy
