This reminds me of the *real* reason behind the "kiai" in Japanese martial arts. It is the opposite of "Aiki" which is harmony, a "Kiai" then is all about bringing about disharmony, taking your opponent off balance, narrowing your visual and aural focus to bring about the demise of your opponent - nothing really harmonious about that.

This is exactly why I choose Force Scream in the KotOR games. I'm glad someone finally covered this and states that this was what Palpatine actually did when he screached, I always searched my feelings and knew it to be true.

You know I’ve wondered this for all these years. I heard before that he was supposed to be moving extremely fast but always wondered why they didn’t do a better job at making that clear because he looks like he’s moving so slow. I was always impressed by his ability to conceal himself right under the nose of the jedi. That alone is a testament to his force abilities. As far as battle prowess in the clone wars (cartoon) he took on Darth Maul AND his brother Savage and still won.

Love it! This is an adaptation of a battle technique that has been used all throughout history and is often overlooked in this day and age of modern warfare. The screech is primal and effects your opponent on a primal level. Best used by the Sith due to the fear it produces in the mind. So effective against the Jedi of this era due to their confidence.

Yeah this does make sense now. I had the same thought about how easily he took them out when I was watching it. But I think it would have been better if they had put something showing it in the movie like maybe some kind of ripple effect hitting the Jedi like Black Canary's sonic scream. Or had him move in more of a blur effect when he first jumps over the desk. No doubt George would have gone back and added it if he still owned it. And maybe in this instance that wouldn't have been a bad thing.
