This is my Oscar fish Steve. I made a huge mistake when i bought him. I thought Steve was very aggressive and going to dominate my fish tank. Turns out Oscar fish are the opposite of aggressive and they are very chilled fished.

I've definitely learned this about Oscars over the years of working at a fish store, sure some are more aggressive but others are absolute wimps, they all absolutely have their own unique personalities that's for sure! 😆 One of our best uses for Oscars have been as tank peacekeepers actually, in select tanks where some cichlids are getting way to crazy, adding a larger Oscar has always helped curve the aggression, some being better at others when it comes to breaking fights up and keeping the peace ✌️

We had an Oscar many years ago. He lived in a 55 gallon tank. We fed him one night crawler every week and something else in between. We would dangle the worm over the top of the tank and he would come up and get it. We had “Oscar” for a few years before giving him to a niece who had him for a few more. Thanks for bringing that wonderful memory back.

I have an albino oscar, and honestly it depends what day it is with his behavior. Sometimes he prefers live food, sometimes he prefers pellets. Sometimes he's just a bit aggressive, sometimes he's really chill. But they are super intelligent and great pets. It really all depends on their childhood for their behavior when they are older. I really recommend them

I had 2 Oscars and they were like puppies. When I would come home from work they would rush to the front of the tank wagging their tails and I would go over and pet them and they would nibble my fingers. Of course as soon as I put all my things away and put on some comfy lounge wear, I would feed them and give them treats. They were just so sweet. I loved them so much. Beautiful fish

I like this as concept, keeps a general audience coming with the lure of fish carnage and then buys fish which he knows will peacefully co-exist whilst hyping up the potential carnage. He can then take about the fish to wide audience, no animals are tortured and it’s a win for everyone.

I had a couple tigers and electric blues in a 115 gallon tank some years ago. Originally had a bunch of starter fish, including a catfish. I put the oscars in, and they made quick work of all my swordtails and rainbows hahah. But thankfully left my catfish alone. They were amazing to have, and a pleasure to watch them just swallow all my smaller and feeder fish whole. Whenever i needed to clean the tank, and move them to a smaller one, they were so chill about me gently picking them up. I miss my oscars and electric blues sooo much!

I had a 150 gallon wide with a couple Oscars, 15” tire track eel, and a red tail catfish that was an absolute savage! You are making me want to get another tank going! Love it!🇺🇸

Oscars are called dogs of aquarium, they recognize their owner ( other few can do) and loves to interact with owners ( if u like to interact with them, hand feeding, teaching tricks)

I raised Oscars for thirty years and found them to be very docile and lived very well in a community tank. One Oscar I had lived for 21 years! His name was Tank!

This guy reminds me of a sad depressed little kid who gets bullied in school so he takes it out on his fish 😂😂😂😂

I work at a store where we have large oscars come in and sometimes they can be sweet but sometimes they will attack anything for no reason. We had one that would bite me everytime I would clean his tank front. Then we have 5 in a large tank that are the sweetest things.

Does anybody notice or know what that white growth is on the oscar's fin?

I owned a pet store in the very early 90s and bought one of the first 10 albino Oscars that came to Atlanta. I had her for three years and in a 90 gallon tank. And yes, she got along great with the other fish her size but feeders didn't last long. Mostly though I fed the tank cichlid pellets. That makes for amore harmonious community tank.

had an oscar that went from the smallest in the tank to the biggest in a few months by eating just the eyes off of the other fish, some lived with an eye missing but sooner or later he came back and finished them

This is absolutely ridiculous that this trend of putting either animals or fish against each other in a biome and watching them fight it out has become so popular. It’s almost as bad as the girl who would eat live fish and animals on camera and joke about how badly they struggle when they’re in her mouth and trying to live absolutely disgusting
