In Moldova, pro-Russian protests are underway in the capital Chisinau. Its the latest in a series of demonstrations that have taken place in recent weeks against the pro-Western president Maia Sandu and the Moldovan government, who have accused Russia of plotting against them. Pro-Russian forces have been resurgent in Moldova since Russia attacked neighboring Ukraine more than a year ago. Thousands of Russian troops are stationed in the separatist Moldovan region of Transnistria in the east of the country.

Funny how all these protesters appear to be over the age of 60...

As a romanian I am familiar to these type of people who miss the ''good old days of communism''. Their intelligence and personalities are... let's say... you're better off talking politics with a bird than with them.

I am myself from Moldova. They go on the streets because they are paid 400 lei which equals 30$ a day. Most of them are retirees. My grandma was telling me stories of how her neighbours were taken in buses for 30$ a day to go to Chisinau to protest. They don’t necesarily want Maia sandu out, they just want the money. Some of them are forced to go from work.

I am from Ukraine. In 2014 we didn't take the pro-Russian old people seriously. That was a mistake. Never underestimate Russia's ability to sway other countries.

The teenage bully failed to beat up the twelve year old, so he’s decided to give the five year old a beating so he can feel powerful again. How pathetic.

Ethnic Russians are a tiny minority in Moldova. There are more ethnic Ukrainians than Russians there. I think Transnistria may soon be liberated from the Russians.

In Moldova they are allowed to protest. In Russia they would go to prison for protesting against the government. So I am glad for them.

Makes sense for Russia to pay the old Soviet holdovers to come protest.

It's a fight of the generations at this point. Old people wanting old times back (as per usual) and young people that want to make things better, because they know it can be better.

Lol, are they going to invade with T-34s? Russia can't even annex Ukraine.
