People often make fun of table tennis players not being athletic. This game gives you incredible reflexes and you need incredible agility to play it. The constant pressure on your joints from leaning one way or the other and making quick directional changes is amazing. A couple sets of table tennis at a club level or higher is a full body cardio workout.

Highlight of my table tennis life... playing in the 1992 US Open Table Tennis Championships in Baltimore... I was so excited I don't think I slept for the two nights I was there. AND, I got to watch the practices and matches of Jan Ove Waldner of Sweden... OMG...

Table Tennis is one of the most under-rated sport. It actually is one of the toughest to master and the margin for errors is very small. It requires one of the greatest concentration level required in any sport, quickest reflexes of any sport, high level of skills and just imagine the speed.. you blink your eyes for a second and it's all over ! The amount of action/spin on the ball is so much that non-pros as soon as your paddle touches the ball will just fly of the table.. Wonder why it doesn't get recognition it deserves!
