Great job by TSH on coverage of the free agent frenzy. As for Gaudreau, it's possible he and his family wanted out from under the Canadian city hockey microscope, which can be incredibly intense. Columbus is a good hockey town, but nowhere near the intensity of Calgary or the east coast teams rumoured to be chasing him. I don't know.. he earned the right to go where he wanted. There is some suspicion that he knew a year ago he'd be leaving. That would tick anyone off.

I feel for Flames but this happens, Your a good team you have a shot at the cup you don't trade your players. Look at Devils. Niedermayer, Rafalski, Kovalchuk and Parise all left the team as FA all left for home or family. Team held onto them to make the run. Killed the Devils since 2012 and they are still building from it

Dubois didn't like Columbus, then he didn't like winnipeg. will he like being under a microscope in Montreal where everything you do is dissected? If he was a good teammate, why would Columbus unload him? toxic?

On the Habs website they reported that “theoretically” Dubois would like to play for the Habs but there has not been any negotiation between the Gm’s in regards to a possible trade.

It's starting to look like Winnipeg is the city that can't seem to keep and attract old enough to have seen this before. The franchise was lost before and hopefully they won't leave again.

Dubois is quite the piece of work. Trying to force a trade sooner than later, and Jets better do it, or he'll pull another tantrum like he did in Columbus. First Scheifele, now this... one would swear that there's some kind of a curse or hex on the Jets. Habs don't have a decent 2C to offer to to replace Dubois, so this will get complicated.

1. Man 'o man....my heart goes out to the Flames fans with the Gaudreau signing in Columbus. Obviously I'm not in Treliving's inner circle but it sure looks like he did everything to keep the player & bottom line...Gaudreau wanted out at all costs....bit of bad form hanging the Flames out to dry as it APPEARS he did!!!
2. Petry....I hope Hughes can move Petry....Red Wings makes most sense and according to Capfriendly they still have $10 million of cap space. Chicago has $10 million of cap space too and only 5 "D" listed....maybe that would be a good trade partner.
3. Re: PLD....if the guy seriously wants to play pro hockey and wants to play in Montreal....a Suzuki/ PLD 1-2 punch down the middle could be very enticing AS LONG AS THEY DON'T GIVE UP THE FARM TO DO IT!!!
