It’s amazing that we have to teach people how to change a tire via the Internet. We were taught how at 16.... with that said, always enjoy a Cooley video.

Also carry a piece of wood. The jack may not be on solid ground.

Always have the replacement wheel out of the trunk and ready to go too, before you start the jack, so you can just swap out one for the other immediately. The jack and replacement are typically located together in the same spot.

Don't have the car up on the jack trying to wrestle the buried replacement wheel out. Dangerous.

If you have bolts, get a ‘wheel hanger’ to help align the tire with the wheel hub bolt holes- really helpful!

I'm 34 and never changed a tire in my whole life. Only ever had two issues with my tires, first one was back in 2016 with my 2001 car, was driving at night and hit a pothole the tire exploded, thankfully I was doing just 40 MPH so I was able to safely pull to the side of the road, the car had a spare tire but it is the original one from when the car was made so it's 15 years old, no good, they say you shouldn't use tires that are more than 7 years old even if they're never used so I just had the tow service take it to a tire shop.

Second issue was just two weeks ago actually in my second car which I bought new in 2017, woke up to one of tires had lost about 10 psi, didn't think much of it so I put air in it and drove to work, later that day it went flat again, I just inflated it and drove to a tire shop, I had them replace all tires because at this point I had more than 48k miles on them anyways so it was about that time.
