It’s all finally coming out why X-Men 97 creator Beau DeMayo was fired by Marvel. We break down the timeline.

X-Men 97 was a major success for Marvel & Disney+, but its creator, Beau DeMayo, was abruptly fired by Marvel Studios on the eve of its release with no explanation given to the public. Now, several months later, the truth is coming out, yet there remains quite a bit of confusion in this developing story. In a new format we’re calling WTF Is Happening, Erik Voss breaks down the exact timeline of Beau DeMayo’s history with Marvel, the reasons the studio parted ways with him, details unrelated to the firing, and how it affected the story of X-Men 97.

I hold this up as one of the top examples of how to cover a story with respect and empathy. Well done, everyone.

As an independent HR professional and also someone that studied some Journalism back in college, I want to truly applaud this video and the professionalism contained within it.

Kudos to all of you and thanks for continuing to set the bar for nerd journalism on this platform! ✊🏽

"The Boys" writers getting ideas for the next season with this development.

I love how when Beau tried to blame Marvel for not liking his Cyclops Pride Fan Art, Marvel basically was like "nah bro, you KNOW what we found, stop blaming us"

If he was sending nude photos of himself as "inspiration" to staffers despite being asked not to, I can see how posting a skimpy picture of himself as Cyclops would send a terrible message. It's evidence he didn't learn anything.

If the allegations about the photos are true, then I think his fan art was referencing that in a way and that is what made Disney/Marvel speak up.

Thanks for making this video explaining the situation with proper research. Whats up with X-men directors and sexual harassment 🙄

I'm not liking the ego from DeMayo saying that "I made X-Men 97." Something like that was a team effort. He may draw himself as Cyclops, but he should remember that the mutant is a team player.

The level of ethics this channel upholds and the unbiased commentary of Erik is why I respect NR so much. You truly deserve the recognition you get.

I really appreciate the focus on defending the idea of “innocent until proven guilty” instead of Demayo himself. Very responsible and an earnest approach which isn’t often taken anymore, especially from a journalistic standpoint in reference to the looseness of sources❤

This has to be one of the most balanced and fair pieces of news content I've ever seen on the internet.

This video should and WILL be the benchmark for ANY internet reporting. Objective, informative, citing journalism. And the ending....I wish was at the beginning because we all need to hear and remember those words. You have solidified you are the FOREMOST and #1 play people can reliably go to for informative and objective videos. Kudos to all of you.

Don't send naked pictures to people who work for and with you

As much as there's a lot of this we still don't know, every time Beau says X-Men '97 is a show "I" created rather than a show he helped create with a team of others, it does give off a hint of arrogance and perhaps not giving the team their proper respect.

With the accusations of repeated incidents of sending illicit photos of himself to staffers, being physically and emotionally abusive, and of assaulting at least one person, is it that arrogance that has DeMayo genuinely believing that (if he did those things) he did nothing wrong?

WTF is Happening is such a great name for an investigative entertainment journalism segment

Everyday I wake up and I find this world similar to the The Boys universe without the Supes.

The way this was broken down and deeply analyzed and carefully worded. And no one’s personal outtake on the matter. It’s literal news update with well documented facts. Thanks for clearing somewhat of the matter in this time.

The only specialization I noticed in the series was how Rogue seemed to be groomed as a young mutant that was a little uncomfortable
