Android P Beta Review- the Next Android OS

Lisa Gade shows you what’s coming in Android P, which will be Android 9.0 and the successor to Oreo 8.0. Google has done a lot of good work to update the user interface and the parts of the OS that you see and interact with. New stuff includes a new multitasking interface (think webOS), Dashboard and App Timer to help you become less addicted to and bothered by your phone, new DND features and more. The Developer Preview is open to 11 Android phones (not just Pixel models!) and it’s called the Android P Beta program. We use the Essential Phone for this walkthrough.

Wow. I've been looking up everything on the Essential Phone (my next phone). Saw your video. Subscribed. Thank the Essential Phone. 😁 You mentioned webOS (R.I.P Palm Pre😢). Yeah!! Great video.

What were they thinking when they removed the recent apps button? It's just an empty space now. Also buttons are always better than gestures.

Thanks Lisa for this great video. Android P Beta looks promising, especially since I am looking to switch from Apple after being a user for 10 years.

Palm web OS - Copy not a bad thing I’m glad that Google went this direction.

Lisa,

I have been watching your reviews for awhile and mentioning things like WebOS is why I keep I disliked Android until Martius (Spelling I know) came over to android and it was Android 4.0 that things started to change and you could see some WebOS concepts come over like much improved notifications.

That app timer stuff is getting disabled ASAP.
The swipe up to close reminds me so much of the Palm Pre I had like ~9 years ago.

Great review, Lisa. I am hopeful a "CLOSE ALL" button makes its way into the Multi-Tasking feature.

Peppermint! Looks great, especially the recent apps. Always hate the rollerdeck style. Got an essential phone. Will install Android P on it later tonight

I don't know why but I really like the design of essential phone! The clean look is awesome!

That clock movement is such a bad idea. Not just because I'm averse to change, it just means you can see less information at a glance, while the right side of the phone is now mostly empty. Why???

WebOS was the greatest. Is there the 'swipe left for back' gesture too?

I tried the beta through essential. Its just missing so many features I wanted to try out that are on the pixel. I know it's a Google phone and they will get the features first but I wish they made them available for all oems who got the beta preview to allow for their users to use

MTR is basically the only worthy review channel on YT. As a macOS/iOS/Unix/Linus/Windows user, I am positive even the most hardcore fanboys of either OS can appreciate this channel.

can it cast screen to win 10 or are the users still deprived of this feature in order to "promote" chromecast?

My V30 on T-Mobile just updated to Oreo preview, Lisa, guess the lucky new Android/Pixel/Nokia owners will love it!

The Essential phone not the iPhone introduced the notch. If in doubt assume Apple copied; as is generally the case.

The shush mode is not working on my pixel xl. What can I do to make it work?

Oh look! The notch became a thing now on most flagship phones despite the hate...
Thanks manufacturers for listening to us..
