Bro was smart to back off it, realizing the back wheels of the truck were lifted up

I always put my truck in 4 wheel drive and have a friend put there foot on the brake pedal if possible, but always 4x4

Chock the trailer tires this is where all the weight is. It is the only way. You are taking weight off the rear of the truck which makes chocking it or emergency brakes useless. 4x4 would help plant the front axles but you would need to be 100% certain that it is engaged…

Chock the (trailer) wheels, put the pickup in 4x4, have someone hold the brakes, pull the emergency brake pin on the trailer, lots of options. One of the steepest roads in a local development has a few tooth gouges in the pavement from this same thing happening when loading excavators.

its better to load facing uphill even though it's steeper to load a machine that way.

A bad case of the vaccination. Why load on a slope?

He should have set his emergency break

Unbelievable stupid.

Truck should in placed in neutral, parking brake set, and two or more wheels should be chock. If possible, someone should be in truck holding brake pedal.

Helpful hint: pull trailer brake-away plunger and set trailer brakes.

I have a video explaining WHY should not load a trailer like this. This a great example of what will happen.
