My budgie was really scared of me (made the mistake of putting my hand in the cage when I first got it) until I started trying this a few days ago and he already seems a LOT more comfortable with my presence. He’s always relaxed around me and constantly stares at me. I’m still going to give it another week or two of using this method and I’ll edit how it goes :)

ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS I have seen on taming a frightened bird. I used to have a pet bullfinch and he was so sweet. Now I have problems with my pair of Parrotlets. I have many birds and they all got tame easily. But this pair is super frightened / terrified of me or anything new in the cage. I have them 3 months already and still no progress. I am going to try your method and let you know what happens. I don't need them hand tame, only not to be scared to death of me near them lol.

The only time my bird listens to me, is when I say you want a cup of tea, want to spend my money, or east enders is coming on, or there’s a fight look out the window, might get a goldfinch instead

I've had my budgies for over 7 years now. And when I first got them, Idk why but I never waited for them to 'get used to their surroundings". Because when you first bring them home, everything is scary to them. You want to start interacting the very first day so they see YOU as their safe place, rather than their cage that most let their bird 'get used' to in. If they see you as their safe spot, taming them is much much easier! And they aren't as attached to their cage.

To be honest in my opinion it just depends on its personality, when I got my bird I didn’t put her inside the cage I let her fly around for a while and she was actually happy then she was a bit calm and she was out for 1 hour after that I put her in her cage. *4 Months Later*

When I call her name and I snap she flies to me she always wants to be around me.

(I’m not hating I’m just saying my opinion now probably everybody is going to reply to me with hate.)
