What if I find a bat in my home?

Bats are the only known reservoir for rabies in Washington State, and while the odds of a bat having rabies are low, there still is a chance that you or your family may have been exposed if a bat got into your home. If you live in Snohomish County, please call the Snohomish Health District for an assessment to determine if you should be treated for rabies. If left untreated, rabies is a fatal disease.
