2024 BMW G80 M3 Manual Test Drive | What A Difference The Comfort Seats Make

2024 BMW G80 M3 Manual Test Drive. This car is mildly equip with 6speed manual , Silverstone Merino leather, power adjustable comfort seats, comfort access and executive package. Gloss black wheels and gloss black brake calipers in Isle Of Man Green Metallic exterior. I gotta say this was a very enjoyable quick drive today and it is all because of the normal comfort seats. I have done videos in the past on my 2023 G80 Carbon Buckets and as cool as they look they are simply terrible to drive daily and with the manual gearbox even more with your left leg always feeling out of whack. I seriously miss the manual and may explore getting another car to replace my Alfa after the new year. Looking at the BMW M2, another Shelby GT350, CT5 Blackwing or a Porsche GT4 or 718 Spyder. There are not many options to choose in todays new car market for a manual gearbox so let's see if I switch back in 2024.

The lower spec M2s are an excellent value and I'm sure a very strong platform for modding. I'm a big sunroof guy and I love that you can still option one on M2, unlike the QV. I do not think you can get individual colors until 2025. The frozen colors are slick but basically require full-car PPF, which is too rich for my blood. I'm personally considering Brooklyn Grey + Cognac.

i had a manual g80 with standaard seats and steel brakes now i have a manual g82 with ceramics and bucket seats. (use it alot on track)
Otherwise it's not needed.
I actually like the bucket seats more even for a long trip my back is just better in it.
But these manuals are the way to go!!!!

looks just like every other bmw on the inside now. Nice that it has the manual shifter though. Wouldn't swap my Giulia Quadrifoglio for an M4, although I would love it if the Quadrifoglio had a manual transmission.

You cannot get Individual paintwork on the current M2, yet. Also, the auto rev-match doesn't seem to be working...

Hey Phil, you should do more vids like this talking cars with friends. Very entertaining to watch. I really miss that Arbath 124 spider owner 😂

One option is to do a stealth PPF to get any color in "frozen" and also have it protected. Bit more expensive but an option

There is a night and day diff btw the M340xi and the G80 imo. Had a M340xi (prob. one of the first in PA June '19). Rapid car, but after a while you get use to the speed even in sport mode without gear set to sport, unless you shift the gear to sport mod...Now when you hit 130-135+mph, CI (confidence) level start to take a rapid dive, sure footing drops(float feel), and that stiff steering setting start feeling very electric. With the G80 (MT), its a diff animal altogether. Every time you get in that car, you just never get used to the speed, you don't need to activate M1, the torque is ever so present....you never seem to get to the limits till you are forced to put it in 6, in which case you have already broken every traffic rule. At 135-140mph, what scares you is not the car (confidence interval at 135+ is 97% subjectively spk), its just the fact that you are now playing in a different territory (How far are you willing to push this? I have 3 kids and a beautiful wife). And what's more scary is how fast you reach such speed while you CI remains at equilibrium. In my opinion they are two diff. cars.

I have on order a Black Sapphire with Canberra Beige interior 230i. I haven’t test driven one though. Not an M2 but I was happy with the B48 in my ‘22 330i.

Nice short ride, I liked the commentary. No doubt the g80 is very capable but that front end and the rubbery linkage don't do it for me. The aftermarket front grill looks far better and is an upgrade for sure over stock.

I too also follow Remove before Race and love the frozen blue color on the M2. Maybe 2025 it will come here but the red is sweet.

I did a 9.5 hr trip from Philly to the tail of the dragon in TN. After that much time on the road, I have zero complaints about the regular seats. Not once did I get uncomfortable.

And can I say I appreciate you being one of the few to go manual. It’s like BMW is trying to suffocate us out by not offering the comp package and having less hp. Just like I left Audi, I will never buy an automatic “fun” car. I don’t car about the extra speed. I love controlling the car with the clutch

In the new Z4 M40i they modded the linkage and put a shorter knob (at least, that’s what I’m reading these days in the various forums). With the upcoming M4 LCI in March and M3 in July, if they adjust it also there… it will be a hard choice between those and the QV. Just FYI: just the frozen colors on the M2 are individuals, but you cannot spec individual paints yet.

the reason behind the craze for laser lights is because in europe the car is equipped with the matrix headlight system where the bulbs and highbeams move along with the car. IT is possible to download and program the software back in,

I ordered my MT G80 back in 2021 with the CF buckets, CF interior and exterior packages, and the full leather package. No executive package and HUD on mine. I agree, as a daily driver, the CF buckets are a an absolute no no. Btw, the 2025 M2 model year will get the 475 hp rating just like the M3. The LCI M3 and M4 will no longer have the laset lights either. So if you want an M2 just wait one more year.

Why did you replace the grill but not the ducts? Such a wasted opportunity. Needs ducts + carbon lip.

question.
If you order a bmw m3 off the bmw website, does it come with a manual or a automatic? Since there is no option for the transmission.

You’re crazy if you go back to Bimmer after the Alfa QF!! A Porsche, ok. I got rid of my X4M and wouldn’t ever go back. Love my GT4, but my Alfa kicks ass!

Picked up my GTS 4.0 last Saturday. Blows everything in the market away. Nothing even comes close. A little more pricey (105 msrp) but ahead of the M3/Giulia QV etc. The 6spd in the Cayman is unbelievable. BTW, stitching only came on leather dash package. Don't think your M3 had that. Supply chain issues if I recall.
