Bemblinator with no hat is insane to me

This will likely cost as much as a new Corvette at minimum. As cool as it looks it'll be totally unattainable for the average person that wanted the MR2 to return in the first place.

If they can keep this thing starting in the $50k range, it would be a success. $60k range, it'll do okay. Above that, it'll be a good used car in 5 years and discontinued within one cycle.

Toyota did a 180 when it comes to "video games bad" and "nobody buys fast cars" and Im here for it.

I would absolutely cry if I scraped the front end on a dip and damaged those LED running lights

Did y'all really think we were getting a 30K Toyota MR2?

A three cylinder hybrid would be great. Love the sound of a three cylinder and an electric engine + battery to bump up the power would fit perfectly.

I'd rather have a 300HP Rear wheel drive Version that you can actually afford.

i do not think it needs 400hp, they should just make it really light and give it 320-340hp.

Meh. No grace. I don't believe it, certainly not for US, and even if they did, they'd price themselves out of the market. Its never going to be a Cayman. (and I've owned 2 MR2s). Corolla 3 cyl would be much cheaper homologation, and a low price might have a chance. 2 seater sales are miniscule - makes no business sense and ain't nobody spending 70k for an MR2 over a Cayman (beyond the first year rush). The company has lost their mind with pricing of products lately and seems to be forgetting "customer first". Doesn't matter how good the products are if practically nobody can afford them - that clashes with Toyota's stated mission of "Mobility for all".

Can we have a 200hp version with rwd for 30 something k with a manual transmission? Please and thank you.

Kind of sad to be honest. Small, light, fun cars are in such short supply, instead they give crazy power (for the size) and more bloat.

I certainly hope they stick to the formula of the original. If I'm not mistaken, MR2 stands for Mid-engine, Rear drive, 2 seats. I'm not opposed to AWD, but it can sometimes get in the way of drifts, burnouts, and other fun.

I like the new forehead design much better than the old one. Lineflow from the brows all the way down to the back of the neck is incredible.

Actually, Toyota is investing heavily in electric cars. But not the ones right now. They want to bring out an electric next year with a solid state battery.

What is most clear to me based on the BMW Supra relationship is:

This is going to be a Lotus Emira with a new body. They will likely use the 3 cylinder in the base model (RWD) probably around $60-$65k. Top trim will be AWD with the supercharged V6 used in the Emira which will likely be $75k. RWD top trim will come later and they could delay manual option just to keep the model fresh over the years just like the Supra. Lmk what you think.

please say that is the GRMN version....please say the regular version is around 200HP and RWD and competes price-wise with Miata, BRZ, 86

I love the design, I wouldn't put AWD the priority should be to add lightness.
