Very nice of YouTube algorithm to think I have the strength and agility to do rope climbing. I feel flattered 😂

When I was in the state police academy, they said climb that rope! They never taught me HOW to climb the rope. 47 years later, I learn how. Thanks .

Learned this in Army Air Assault School decades ago. Came in handy when my son recently powered up a rope with brute arm strength. At 50 yrs old, I was able to climb the rope and ring the bell also. Strength is for a season. Technique is forever!

67 years ago a Hungarian refugee boy lived with our family and taught me this technique. Thank you Tihimar Szombathy.

As a Royal Marine Physical Training Instructor, we taught 1000s of recruits that the left ankle went ‘over’ the right ankle, and you gripped the rope between the knees and the outside of the ankles. Very effective way to climb the rope with 22lbs on your back plus a weapon.

I literally needed this exact video before I ran a Spartan race last month. My buddy was like "step on the rope." I tried to follow what others were doing but I was exhausted and they were moving too fast.

This slow, methodical explanation was PERFECT. Thanks dude!

As a 260lb plus dude on a tactical team, this technique along with the top rope slide saved me during o course runs

When watching competitions I always wonder how they climb the ropes, but after they show was over I just never looked it up. I am pleased your video came up in my feed. I learned something new.

In high school gym we were to climb the rope to the ceiling, but we weren’t shown any techniques. Those that were able to climb it did so using only arm strength.

At 66, I doubt that I could climb a rope now. In grade school, I flew up the rope using only my arms with my legs straight out in front of me. But this is helpful, if I ever had to try & climb.

As a child I liked to do it during PT. I was small, slim and had the strenght. I was fast and better than most of the boys. This was my style. My mum actually showed me this trick. She was a natural sport beast in her youth. Now she is in her late seventees and still loves cycling.

As a circus artist that mostly did rope in the last year... First technique with the left foot over the right one feels way more efficient. Maybe it just hurts the foot less over time too (we do it barefoot not in shoes)

The good ol’ days from a helicopter or with the team. It was awesome!

Wrap it the other way - rope on outside of thigh, around back of calf, over front of shin, running end on outside of foot. You still effectively do the J-clamp, but you don't lose the rope if there's wind or if the rope is attached to something that is moving. You can also control a rope descent without a good hand grip on the rope (pants recommended).

Yes, sir. And you dont pull up with your arms, you bring your hips up, and reposition your hands ✌️

Funny how Coach Pyle in grade school NEVER showed us the technique.
