Seen a lot of Pearl Harbor photos, but this shit sends chills down my spine

That first explosion is the USS Arizona right when an armor piercing bomb penetrated the deck and set off the magazine. For those that don't know that's the ship the Pearl harbor memorial is built over and the wreck still "bleeds" oil to this day.

Being able to see color and the flames now is absolutely insane. Realizing those tripod masts were around 260' in the air and those flames were dwarfing them...

My father was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He passed away in 2005 at 90 years of age.

My cousin died on the USS Arizona, my great grandmother told my father stories of what an amazing guy he was. He died at the age of 22, his body wasn’t recovered and to this day his name sits on the list of missing. I hope he wasn’t one of the ones who got stuck underneath the ship for days, may he rest in peace. ❤

As always, your work is both incredible and timeless. Hopefully your high quality work is able to reach a much wider audience, to help us as a society better comprehend the brutal realities of war.

The color restoration really allows you to really see what happened to Arizona. The fact that this 1000+ ton steel superstructure gets flung back like some toy spring is crazy!

Wow, that's insane.

I love how the enhancement of these old pieces of film really does a far better job of conveying just how brutal WWII combat really was.

Did you ever wonder just how lucky it was that a movie camera filmed the bombing, explosion, and destruction of the USS Arizona?
That probably helped fan the flames to want to fight the enemy!

If you look really close at the first tripod tower, youll actually see the whole ship get raised out of the water like a fish jumping out of water. Thats how powerful that explosion actually was that day

Just halfway through this you can see the tug Hoga putting out fires on USS Maryland, Hoga shockingly is still around and is one of the few vessels present at Pearl Harbor that is still around.

The gap between explosion and sound wave was on point great job

As often as I have seen this film as original, I have never noticed just how high the forward superstructure of the Arizona rose up in the explosion! Thanks to stabilization now you can.

My great uncle went down with the USS Arizona on this day. Watching it as it actually happened is an experience I didn't think I would get. We don't often get to see first hand footage of war but this video in particular is a time capsule, as well as this whole channel. Thank you for sharing the history and horrors of our world wars. May we never see another one.

These images are horrifying. I can only imagine how it was to be there.
My father survived that day, he was on the California when it was sunk. He was then transferred to the Portland. He was at Midway, Tarawa and many other battles. He never spoke to me about his service. He passed in 1977. I found some of his service records when my mother passed on 2012. R.I.P. pops, thanks for serving so I can be free. ❤🇺🇸

My great-grandfather was a pilot in the attack on Pearl Harbor, survived WWII, became a JASDF instructor after the war, and died at age 95.
I am grateful to my great-grandfather for surviving the war.
