Daniel Boone was my fifth great uncle. The story was handed down through my family. Thanks for sharing the encounters!

My family settled in the mountains between Tennessee and North Carolina in the mid 1700.
We grow up hearing stories of both Boone and Crockett.
I was raised hunting and trapping, leaning to read animal tracks. Ive spent countless hours in the Cumberland and Appalachians mountains.
If these creatures exist and they want to stay hidden, they can in these mountains. I've been in places so remote, I could swear no other human has been. With stories handed down about Boone and Crockett, one thing that's for sure, these two frontiersman were as tough as they come! When tourist come to these mountains, they have no idea how dangerous they are. Thank you Will for highlighting these two great frontiersman!

I understand everyone's skepticism. I never would have believed they were real if my brother and I hadn't had an experience. It's easy to say people just make these stories up when you've never seen or heard of it. I'm sure plenty of people have made up stories as well, but knowing what i know now, when I hear people saying they saw one or heard one, I pay attention to details of the story. I know for a fact we weren't making anything up, and we certainly didn't talk about it or even acknowledge it happened for years. The few people i have told all react the same condescending or patronizing manner, so I can tell you, it's not about getting famous or popular, or gaining anything from anyone, at least not for me.

It's so crazy how this was the 17-1800s and their stories and descriptions still match up with recent history. And Boone not wanting to tell his encounter with the doubters in the room. It's all too familiar.

Daniel Boone was in the woods all his life. The area he was in around Kentucky is known for Bigfoot sightings even today. Down by lake Cumberland and other areas. I’m shocked he only came across 1 sighting.

i read about these particular encounters several years ago and they are just as chilling now as they were then. Back in the 1950's My Dad had an encounter with a large ape like " tall man " in The San Luis valley in Colorado. It was hiding behind an outer shed and when it stood up it was much taller than the shed! It was extremely hairy & black. it walked on two feet and ran away when his brothers came to see what was happening.

Heard a story of a Cherokee who was having problems around his house. He went to the Tribal council for advice.
One of the council members told him, if he was forced to shoot, to aim for head, because of their chests being armored with thick bones.

This is probably the most descriptive and amazing story ever told regarding bigfoot encounters! The credibility given to it simply by the telling of it by Daniel Boone cannot be overstated. There are many significant things we can learn from the encounter. One detail in particular might be of interest to zoology. The fact this animal does NOT have ribs but instead had a large breastplate? What manner of hominid is this? If we are to have any faith in species adaptation surely this must be significant! No Other such Hominid alive Or in the fossil record exists!

Boone was a legend they need to make a movie about his escape and 160 mile race through virgin forest to warn settlers of a war party. Couldn’t imagine how cut up the horse was when it finally gave out only to finish his journey on foot….then he fought at the fort til the Shawnee called it quits. Some say 160 miles in 4 days some say 5 but he was a stud that evidently cared for his fellow man. There’s some crazy survival stories from those days but when I was a kid, Boone’s stuck with me. I hadn’t heard this one before, no doubt his son would not have survived had he been late getting there. Cool story. Both stories. 👍

Thanks for the stories. Born and raised Texan here. The Big Thicket of east Texas has numerous stories of Sasquatch like beings, even to this day. If they do have huge breast plates, that might help explain the heavy weight when leaving deep footprints. I'm guessing Boone didn't mention any smell because everyone probably smelled a little back then. lol

Lewis and Clark also had a Bigfoot encounter except they where harassed by a family group of at least 12 bigfoots. And Teddy Roosevelt also encountered a Bigfoot.
