Easy solutions: vote in favor of China in the international stage, such as UN, and declare that Taiwan is a part of China. Then they can request for debt forgiveness. It is never about money but geopolitical influence. There is a Chinese old saying “ Money can make ghosts power your mills”!

African countries have accepted Chinese offers to improve infrastructure .. When the countries cannot pay back the loans, China has taken the fishing rights of the African seas. China comes in with large ships and crew and catches the majority of the fish to be shipped back to China.

African men can no longer make a living from fishing. This was a common theme when we visited Africa a few months ago. On June 19 our cruise ship responded to the report of a small boat floating in the Atlantic Ocean. The boat had 68 refugees with five dead bodies. The boat had been at sea for 20-30 days - eventually with no cover, food or freshwater. People drank the saltwater and were in very poor condition. Our next port in the Canary Islands was a day and a half away. Our ship turned the theatre lounge into an infirmary and cared for the refugees day and night until the Red Cross took over the responsibility of caring for the refugees.

The tour guide in one African country told us that “mineral rights” had been given to China when they could not repay their loan.
