Hey gang! I said it before, but the reason I’m covering this show so much is because I know a lot of the debate surrounding it is mostly toxic racist/misogynist doofuses, so I want to have a voice out there discussing the good and bad about the series in a less gross way.

I have concerns. I have things I don’t like about the show already. But there are also things about Velma that I do think are cool and interesting decisions!

Hopefully that all comes across in my videos. I’m just a dork who likes Scooby and wants to talk about Scoob stuff online in a hopefully fun and thoughtful way! 💜

The premise really feels like the show's creators went to HBO and pitched an idea everyone liked but the bean counters said no one would watch it unless it was related to an established franchise.

My one issue with the "Not wanting to bring Scooby to an adult level." Is WB allowed it for an entire Supernatural cross over with full on swearing, blood and gore. So Scooby has already been brought there in an animation style VERY identical to classic Scooby.

If they wanted a mature version of Scooby-Doo they should have a realistic Great Dane who looks bad ass and is smart enough to understand people but can’t talk. He communicates by guiding people to clues n shit

I forgot about that bumper but now I realize it's a reference Matthew Lillard being both Shaggy and Stu in Scream!
Also Mindy Kaling is a surprisingly fitting Velma voice imo

I think you're right. The mystery person is Shaggy.

He's obviously bringing Velma a sandwitch and the "blood" on the window is just ketchup from Velma screaming and scaring him making him squirt it on the window.

I don’t think Velma’s sexuality from that canon is related to this canon. If we are talking about the grand brand version of her that is supposed to be the general public’s consensus of her she should be bi, but in specific canons she could be strictly straight, gay, bi, or whatever.

Poison ivy has a talking sentient plant as a main character along with a talking shark and it does not take away from the mature content. i think your first assumption is correct and they dont want to "bring scoob down to their level"

I think the fact they cast Glenn Howerton as Fred means there's at least a decent chance he turns out to be the serial killer.

Mindy tends to have her brown female characters date white guys. It’s like a trope of anything Mindy makes. I don’t think it’s HBO back pedaling… I just think this is Mindy doing her thing.

If Scooby doesn't fit the tone of the show then they should be making a different show. They don't care about the IP at all they just want well known name to put on it so more people will watch it.

Them not being able to use Scooby could also be why they couldn’t call him Shaggy. The rest are person names but they want to keep Shaggy out of the murder
