Actually the other way around, Beethoven heard Smoke on the Water, inverted it, and turned it into the theme of his most popular symphony of all time.

Got to love the contempt Richie had for the press, it was admirable. The interviewer thinks he's got the scoop.🤘🏼

Ritchie Blackmore the greatest guitarist to ever play on stage. He will be 77 in April. Long live the Master.

Ritchie loved to troll news reporters 😂

Blackmore made a similar comment about writing Space Trucking. He developed that riff from messing around with the Batman TV Theme

I love Ritchie! His sense of humor is as awesome as his playing. If you're a fan of his you should check out some of Ritchie's other music. Listen to "Blackmores' Night".

Learning about a classic song cool love the song

A bit of spoofology there me thinks, the flat five in SOTW is what really makes the riff and that is not in Beethoven's 5th.

I love how Ritchie really pulled people's legs. He has killed so many reporters as they took him seriously... This one is a classic🤣

All of us ‘in the know’ know he came up with the riff by playing ‘Master of Puppets’ backwards with an added 5th and 13th all on a cheap Japanese guitar tuned half a step down with the ‘d’ string removed. Beethoven had sweet FA to do with it, but I’ll give him credit for introducing ‘tapping’.

I can believe he got the idea from Beethoven's 5th by messing about with those notes but the famous riff from smoke on the water is not Beethoven's 5th played backwards
