Had a B1 do this in Nevada at an air show. Full afterburners.
You could definitely feel it through your whole body!
It then flew straight up and in a matter of what seemed like just seconds, announcer says, the “B1 has now climbed to an elevation of 5 miles.”
One of the most amazing things I’ve seen.

I remember being at an airshow in the late '80s, and my son (who would have been around 4 at the time) needed to go to the bathroom. There was an F-16 airborne at that moment and I was bummed to be missing it. We maneuvered to the porta-potties and I needed to accompany my son inside. While we were in there, the F-16 decided to do a low altitude, high speed pass. Trust me, the last place you want to be is inside a fiberglass porta-john when an F-16 comes over a hundred feet up at just below the speed of sound.

What a great shot, seeing everyone truly caught off guard. It’s so different seeing it in person, the sound of a F-16 full afterburner flying by so low is amazing.

Reminds me of when I went to an air show in ocean city Maryland a few years ago. Thousands of people on the beach and walking the boardwalk, and a jet (I have no idea what specific type of aircraft it was) did a sneak pass just like this. I’ve never heard so many little kids scream so loud in my life I was laughing hysterically. Made my whole weekend
