A lot of kids in Savaii and Upolu still use their parents first name. Even in Tutuila some of the kids still call their parent’s first name instead of mom and dad.

You kno it’s common in Samoa to call your old man and old lady by their names yeah…outside of Samoa it’s not but in Samoa you hear all the kids call their parents by their first names…

I'm hafakasi, my mom's palangi. Sometimes I'll jokingly call her by her first name, especially if I've called out to her multiple times and she hasn't heard me. But my dad...yeah, no. I'd like to live.
