The lynx belongs to the cat family. It is the closest relative of the cat, although the appearance of the lynx is very different.

The lynx genus has four species:
- The common lynx or Eurasian lynx;
- The red lynx;
- Pyrenean lynx or Spanish lynx;
- Canada lynx.

The color of the lynx is pretty variable, it all depends on their habitat and the species to which they belong. The most common lynxes are lynxes with a grayish-grayish or grayish-brown hue with pronounced large dark spots on the back and sides. Smaller spots cover the legs and chest of the animal.

The hind paws of the lynx differ in their structure from those of other felines; they are longer than the front paws. The hind paws of the lynx have 4 toes and the front paws have 5 toes. In winter, the soles of its paws are covered with particularly thick fur, which allows the lynx to move easily in the snow and not fall through snowdrifts.

Lynx inhabits the forests of Eurasia and North America. Sometimes this animal can even be found beyond the Arctic Circle.

Once upon a time, the lynx inhabited almost the entire territory of Western and Central Europe. But because of the popularity of lynx fur on the world market and deforestation, the lynx was already exterminated in many European countries in the middle of the 20th century...
