Flood warnings after heavy rain hits the UK

Flood warnings remain in place across the UK with a month's worth of rain predicted to fall in 24 hours.

Forecasters are warning of lightning, flooding, difficult driving conditions and delays on public transport.

Bedfordshire has been hit hard, with parts of the county submerged underwater.

Not surprising, it was absolutely pishing it down all night in London. Surprised we're not flooded here. Last time that happened, damage to properties meant that water supply was turned off for dozens of households for days. Hope the clean up is relatively straight forward for those affected.

What do they expect. They build on flood plains, taken away the gutters in the road, don't clear drains and they've taken out hedges and ditches etc.

I live in Leighton buzzard a lot of the new houses have been built on the flood plain only a fool would buy one there
