I was at a networking event and I told people I was a product designer instead of an industrial designer just to make it easier. Most didn't even know what that was either.

Good idea, the movement of letters and words ilustrating hat the text says in movement and "dancing" to the music. But the choose of time lapse between sentences is a bit fast, even for people used to read, and the letter typography don't help. It makes the entire good idea worst in terms of video production. (Not a natural english speaker, less a writter, but I can read at normal speed). Anyway nice video.

I would say that services are more part of a business stratergies design more than industrial design, as we know industrial design is related to the proces of satisfying a need through a creative process impulsed by a methodology to solve a problem inner an object, an intangible service could be affected or influenced by objects or a space designed to deliver or sell the named service.

Yes, you need to know (not like an Engineer, but almost) Maths and Physics. It is very important for us (you cannot design anything without 'em).

I quite liked this! Having just text playing around is actually cool, since any pictures would have only narrowed our thinking of industrial design.

My art teacher once showed us photos on industrial design. There was an excavator machine - in yellow. Question: how is that art - or design? Answer: just compare it with the Soviet one, and you'll see. Of course, she was very right.

Product Design is just a part of Industrial Design.

Those are called service design. Think buying a railway ticket (or airline check-in). It's not only the ticket machine but also it's placement, the whole path through the purchase and into the train that matters.

To me, industrial design is the physical. Service design is the intangible. I would put even software more on the service side.

Helvetica, and the colours, and the music... all is strongly related to some conventional aesthetics that are starting to be boring. This is the post-postmodernist world, the Bauhaus is but people still tends to idolize and overrate their teachings :-P
