Family Bonds | Animated short film (2019)

The little fox Hugo has a happy family, but it’s a bit unsual - his parents are geese. They live an harmonic life until one day Hugo discovers a grown fox attacking another goose. This results into the most challenging and difficult situation our little patchwork-family has to overcome before Hugo ultimately finds out who he really is and that family is a feeling and not a matter of heritage.

The Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, with its Animationsinstitut and the postgraduate masterclass Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris, is one of the internationally most acclaimed film and media schools. On a unique campus including the neighbouring Academy of Performing Arts, the 500 students receive an interdisciplinary, highly practical education close to the film and media market by the hands of over 300 freelance teachers directly from the industry.

Family are those who come looking for you when you're lost and feel alone, helping you through your problems and accepting you for who you are. Hugo's parents knew they were taking in an unusual child (a predator) from the beginning and yet didn't ask him to be anything other than who he was. And Hugo is a good child. He doesn't have to be like a traditional predator. He just has to be himself.

The lesson here is that it's our actions and characters inside that define who we are, not where we came from or who we're related to.
