Less than a week before Christmas Day and the start of Hanukkah, workers across four Amazon delivery facilities in Southern California officially went on strike on Thursday.

The Teamsters union said voted in favor of the strike on Wednesday after the company refused to negotiate contracts or recognize the union. The Teamsters represent Amazon workers in Palmdale, San Bernardino, Victorville and the City of Industry. Other Teamster unions in Illinois and New York have also voted to authorize strikes.

KTLA's Carlos Saucedo reports on Dec. 19, 2024.

Guys i am a driver for amazon. I can confirm we cant take proper breaks. We are constantly being rushed to one house to another. I have personally had to piss in bottles due to the fact that we just dont have time to find a restroom

It’s fine to strike but don’t block other workers who want no part and trying to do their own job

I used to work for a company and they didn't let us take breaks most of the times so we had no choice but to sue them. We did and won a settlement. I am a ride share driver at my spare time and the drivers from Amazon that I pick up tell me they get paid below 20 to drive those vans. MC Donald's and fast food pay 20 and over. Not fair for drivers or everyone working in California. I say they should all get paid at least 20 with this high inflation we all deserve it.

FWI Teamsters represent UPS employees. I drive and make 45 an hour because of the union plus health insurance at UPS.

I feel in my gut 😌 Amazon is going to hire new employees and this strike just might not make a difference.

In Scandinavian countries, they have unions too. But the difference, the company is NOT in opposition, they want to be fair, and the union wants the same, so they mostly work together in harmony, for the benefit of all.

I remember having 10 hour routes within an 8 hr work period back home in Orange County CA, now residing in Everett WA. During my time at Amazon here in Everett along with my time back home delivering around wealthy beachside of South OC, many times where we’d have heavy routes within nearly 200 stops and well over 300 packages. With no knowledge of ur route ofc until u complete ur DVIR. On top of heavy routes doing rescues after ! Heavy routes on top of the need to rush, total disrespect and lack of recognition for the drivers who deliver for Amazon from logistics company like I did. The fact that Amazon is unwilling to recognize drivers from 3rd party companies that help deliver the packages is insane. The drivers are just as much apart of Amazon. A huge part, dealing with inclement weather at times, package thefts, crazy drivers. All while feeling the need to rush cuz Amazon only sees green. They’ve clearly fallen on deaf ears I hope these workers get what they want 💯

I feel them. My company wouldnt give us better pay & benefits last year, we striked for 1 day & got wat we wanted immediately. I dont order from Amazon or have Prime but they deserve better especially allowed to use the restroom

At the DBK4 delivery station in Queens, New York, cops swarmed and arrested an Amazon driver who stopped his van in support of the strike. In anticipation of a possible strike at JFK8, police had camped out by the facility in advance. Nonetheless, for six hours picketers slowed the flow of traffic out of the facility to a trickle, letting only one truck through every two minutes.

Not okay to arrest people trying to unionize and / or strike. NOT okay!
