The Supreme Court has issued notice to the Election Commission on a petition seeking 100 per cent VVPAT verification.
The petitioner has argued that when the government has spent Rs 5,000 crore on buying 24 lakh VVPAT machines, why is verification done of only 20,000 VVPAT slips?
What does the notice to EC indicate? Will there be a logistical nightmare? Is this petition filed to see that EVMs are abandoned? Listen to Supreme Court lawyer Mehmood Pracha, who is fighting to have EVMs junked.
Pracha is also contesting from Rampur as an independent so as to get proof of EVM tampering. He says once he collects all the evidence, he will file a mother of all petitions that will lead to axing of elections 2024.
