As a former lawyer I am hugely impressed by Deary's approach. I assume this comes from his time at FISA but it shows his clarity of thinking to start with asking whether he even needs to look at the documents. He clearly understands the gravity of the situation and has a laser focus on what Trump's team are trying to do - obfuscate, delay, confuse and distort. And equally clearly he sees right through it.

I just realized why I like watching Lawrence so much. I didn't know he was a TV fiction drama writer earlier in life. He has that *"story telling vibe"* except with true facts. The inflection in his voice grasps your attention. It builds up the suspense and then drops the bomb. Excellent writing.

The problem with pathological liars is that they believe that they are smarter than everyone else.
This comes from having no one call them on their lies. This comes from people they lie to not giving a crap about them or what they say because all are actually aware of the lies. They surround themselves with people who will simply agree with them to make their own lives easier.
