$540 is the current trade-in value for the Pixel 7 Pro if you're looking to upgrade to a Google Pixel 9 Pro. I think you won't be disappoint if you upgrade. There are enough improvements even after just two years to make it enjoyable, and I think it sets you up nicely for what Google has planned for the future.

Even though the P7P is only two years old, I think you'll notice enough difference to make it worth it.

No, I'm not upgrading my P7P to the Pixel 9.
Great news they actually switched to ultrasonic fingerprint, new modem and a super brilliant fantastic omg display, but let's talk about facts, Tensor G4 is still Exynos-based and it's still limited by its weak raw performance and overall support in terms of drivers optimization, raw performance is just the same as last year G3, which still wasn't a huge jump compared to Tensor G2 and it can't even match up to a 2 years old Snapdragon 8 gen 1, I've checked some camera samples from the P9 and to be honest I don't see any revolution in terms of camera quality, my P7P is not giving me issues in terms of battery life, in terms of user experience and fastness, my fingerprint sensor works great, no network issuee, so I don't have any real motivation to say I need to upgrade.
I usually change my phone every 2 years, but this time around I really feel like I don't need any upgrade compared to what the new model offers.
As far as the Tensor G4 could be more efficient and support more AI features, it's still too behind the competitors (not even mentioning Apple), and I honestly wouldn't want a phone struggling to run latest games at high graphics, lagging while running heavy apps or multimedia editing, that's why I'll be waiting for Pixel 10 which supposedly will run the first TSMC based tensor and UFS 4.0 memories which could take performance to another level.
THAT would be an actual jump, not just a brighter display, a new fingerprint sensor and a couple random more AI features, which don't get me wrong, it's actually a decent improvement if you're joining the Pixel experience for the first time, but since I already have a Pixel, I'd like to see something more.
Let's see what Android 15 will bring to the 7P, then I'll see google again next year maybe.

Oddly enough I didn't have an issue with 6 Pro. Still using it.

I've had the standard Pixel 7 since launch and I'm planning to upgrade next year to the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

I don't know Steve. Google has really shaken my confidence. I had to do a factory reset on my pixel 8 pro today because the Android system wouldn't load. This is the fourth time I've had to deal with this three times with the pixel fold and on my pixel 8 pro. I'm not sure what their problem is but now I'm worried. What's so frustrating is that I love using their products, but I hate dealing with their maddening inconsistencies and incompetence.

Nope, no reason to waste money as long as security updates continue on the 7 pro and it doesn't break beyond repair.

I'm wondering if the way I use my phone is so different from most people -- 100% brightness on the display being dim? Maybe outdoors in direct sunlight, but indoors I almost never feel the need to run at over 50% brightness on my Pixel 7 (nor my prior 4a).

I’m so glad you’re doing this video. More reviewers need to stop getting rid of their previous year or two phones so early because the viewers are keeping their phones a lot longer with all these updates. Would anyone throw away a perfectly workable phone?

I pre-ordered the regular 9 Pro. I think when all the dust settles, this will possibly be selling Pixel to date. It's a lot of small updates that add up. 10% or better overall CPU/GPU improvement, vapor chamber, new modem, 33% ram increase, new selfie camera, upgraded charging speeds, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, updated design language. Taking all that into consideration, it's not insignificant.

I have the pixel 7 regular and its okay but I do run into the modem/bluetooth connectivity problem from time to time but I agree the screen brightness is just bad and heats up pretty quickly. I'm waiting for them to do the promotional period to drop the price on pixel 9 pro before pulling the trigger because that's where I made the mistake with the pixel 7 and got it on pre-order. Felt like a clown paying full price when they marked it down a few months after 🤡

Going from a 7 Pro to 9 Pro XL with T-Mobile, $500 trade in credit over 24 months and -$200 discount on the 512GB model. Paying $500 in the end

Only drawback is a marginally lower resolution/pixel density. But if the larger pixels get me a much brighter screen and prevent burn in more, great. Although I haven't noticed even the slightest hint at burn-in on the 7 Pro.

I do have a bone to pick with Google and in general their software overall, but that's more of a systematic failure from the top down over at Google 😅

First of all, I loved my Pixel 7, I came from a Galaxy S10e, which was in my opinion awesome, so the switch to a "bigger" standard Pixel 7 was a big step at first.

I usually switch phones every 2 years and I'm paying only € 1, 5 more for the Pixel 9 right now compared to the Pixel 7 I had. I always give my "old" phones to my dad as they are usually still looking brand new and still function well. I've used the Pixel 9 only two days so far so it has not seen intensive use yet, but honestly I am amazed by how the Pixel 7 held up and is still doing very well compared to the Pixel 9. My dad will still get great use out of the Pixel 7.

So far I did notice the Pixel 7 getting way hotter then the 9, other then that, I don't feel like I needed the upgrade. The camera on the standard Pixel 7 was, in my opinion, very good. I wouldn't go Pro, although I like it is the same size right now, because I think the camera is great on the standard model already.

Honestly, if you can afford a Pixel 9 and want newer hardware, go for it, if you want a great phone and camera and are in the market for a Pixel but are more on a budget or just don't care to have a newer model get a Pixel 7, or 8. Either way, great choice in my opinion.

Wasn’t planning on upgrading my p7pro yet but I broke the screen, already preordered the 9 pro xl. Been using an old Samsung s9 for over a month waiting for the p9 literally anything will be an upgrade at this point.

I love the asthetic of the 9 lineup, but I think I'm gonna hold out until the 10 with the new TSC chip.

My P7P is still feeling good

Nice video, thanks. I always get the two year itch with phones, even though I wanted to wait for the 10 I just couldn't make myself do it. Plus, in my head I thought that the 10 might just have a few niggles with such a big change so I be able to wait until the 11 for my next upgrade after the 9 Pro. Glad to see Google releasing a smaller Pro phone, which I have pre-ordered. I loved my Pixel 5 which my wife has now. I got an estimated £278 for the Pixel 5 including the bonus so I'm happy with that and my wife gets the 7 Pro. £100 off the Watch 3 45mm so went for that one t0o as my original watch is also 2 years old. Would have loved a free watch but I'm happy with the discount as they are great devices.

Not worth it!
my p7p still super solid, didn't have battery issues, and sincerely unless you play the most graphics intensive games you won't feel slightly subpar. all the mentioned upgrades don't feel like something that i might find enough for many hundreds of euros/dollars investment, feels more like a barely one generation small upgrade.
unless your phone is damage in my books wait for at least one more generation

How come you can't preorder the 9 pro from best buy.. it says it's coming 9/4.. but isn't the promotional offer expire 8/28? Wtf.. it's been like that since google event, where as the xl is available...

I see no any issues with my 7 Pro just the little flicker might just be because it has a variable refresh rate which only seen on a very very dark environment with no other lights on. I have a good screen on time. No connectivity issues. And yes, I'm using my phone during meetings at our office. No hate, but my boss' phone is 14PM but my 7 Pro takes better photos.Lol. so yeah, let's see what the 10 series will be before upgrading.
