Who Are the 144,000?

Revelation 7 speaks of 144,000 people in the End-Times sealed by God to be preserved through the Tribulation? Who are they?

They (144k) can be anyone that has been "grafted" into the house of israel! (ordained) to be special servants in the last days (they will be translated beings - impervious to harm of the world in order to fulfill their calling).

I know someone who knows a lot about the subject (and even things I can't say)! However they (144k) will be "special" servants of God - called up in the last day and preserved from harm in order to seek out the (1) elect of god (think wheat from the tares) and save them (2) other kinds of work in the temple, etc. They will be taken from the 12 tribes of israel and they will be living "sentinels" (or guardian angels) for the earths population - through the rough transition in end days (before the 2nd coming of the lord) They will also know the "adamonic language" and sing a song know man knows (except they receive it) sealed up with the name of the father on their forehead. To be one of the 144k is a "calling".

The 144.000 tribes of Is-real are the ones that are real (raw in all its form) enough for the universe to deem them worthy to keep. They (we) are not chosen. We choose ourselves, to so good, by our own free will. I.e don't eat meat, don't drive cars, live in nature as we were intended. The Is-real is just a word to describe those who are REAL in the "matrix". But again, it's all free will and we chose it ourselves. Place close attention to what you're saying. You say 144, 000 are 12, 000 from each tribe Israel then that they are all from the Jews. But the Jews are only Judah with Benjamin and Levi. So, the remaining 108, 000 are from the other tribes - wherever they may be now - and notice Dan not mentioned but Joseph counted as 2 (Manassas and 'Joseph' - meaning Ephraim since Manassas already named) So look it up...

Being a symbol for Isreal means nothing in New Testement prophecy that distinguishes those people from the Church itself. They are not thought of as seperate entities, the church of new believers in Christ are compared to a branch grafted onto the same covenant tree of promises Isreal was judged and cut off from, but that Jews can still be easily grafted back onto the same tree too. We are not thought of as seperate bodies of people theologically.

There are too many problems trying to treat this like it's about literal Jewish people in Isreal. First off the tribes are not the actual historical 12 tribes, and there are no old Testement prophecies that would justify their exclusion and replacement in this passage. Also most of those 10 tribes were completely exiled, never to be restored at all, so only the tribes that lived out in the southern kingdom even preserved their tribal ethic heritage, nobody knows what happened to the other tribes. Nothing is left of Gad or Asher to restore and pick up. These can't be literal ethic jewish tribes, their symbolic for God's people and church, just like the perfectly round numbers are symbolic.

Besides this, their are no New Testement teachings that lead us to expect a seperate hope and set of promises for Isreal as a distinct entity from the Kingdom/Church that the Kingdom does not also inherit or receives.

Everything about the New Testement points to how both Jews and Gentiles have been brought together into the same covenant now, the same Kingdom.

These people are the remnant of Jews who became Christians before Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in 70 AD. This has already happened and is documented in history. When Jerusalem was surrounded by the Roman armies of Gallus, these Jewish Christians remembered the statement of Jesus to leave Jerusalem immediately once this happened.They all eventually left so that these remnant Jewish Christians under the command of Jesus, all were delivered to safety from the slaughter of the Roman armies in 70 AD.
